    intercooler pipe work

i have asked this before but a few things have changed and i couldnt find the old thread to continue that.
I will be buying an intercooler which has 3" inlet and outlet. Is it best to run 3" pipe work all the way with a big enlarger/reducer from the turbo to the pipe?
Or to run a 2.5" pipe work with enlarger/reducers to the intercooler and the throttle body?
would a 3" pipe run cause any noticeable lag over the 2.5" run or would it keep the air colder and allow the cooler to perform better?

it dosnt really matter now tho fella as the cooler i was looking at just wont fit. I liked the fact that the inlet and outlet were on the same side which would keep the pipe runs nice and short. i will keep looking but for a smaller cooler with both inlets on the same side. probably just use the gtt one for now.

How comes it didn't fit, was it hitting on something or pipework catching the frame?

    Re: intercooler pipe work

dont think it will fit behind the bumper. Cross member would have to be cut out, 790mm end to end and 300mm high, think it will be a lot bigger than i need and would take ages to fill. Wouldnt it?. Also i dont want anything obstructing the rad well as little as poss any way.

thats hows its done. Will you be putting a (modified) cross member back in? Surley its needed to keep everything stiff.

    Re: intercooler pipe work

yer its the 650x230 all i cut off was the top part off the crossmember and those little triangle type bits on the crossmember and a little of the passenger headlight bucket. All sits in quite neatly and leaves enough room for pipe runs. bumper didnt require any cutting nor the grille and the rad sits in its usual place.
