Too much oil pressure on 205 GTi

    Hey chaps,

Friends got a 205 GTi, rebuilt it had new oil pump, and uprated spring to produce more pressure etc...

But he had it running for 10 secs before it blew the seals out of the oil filter.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

on a slightly more technical/helpful note, im seeing the old boy later so will ask if he found a solution for useing the uprated spring. im sure he said he ended up having to go back to the standard item though

Is it the 1.9 8v , or has he put a mi16 engine in. Only ive not really heard of many oil pressure problems with the 8v so cant see any reason for a uprated spring, however the mi16 I know does suffer badly from oil starvation etc.

put in thinner oil and use the loosening tool, to tighten the oil filter onto the block.....

Thanks for the replys chaps, yeah its the 1.9 GTi, I think the easiest thing would be to try it without the uprated spring.

Some people have said dodgy oil pump........

I'll get him to whip out the new spring.....

dad fitted a new pump as well as the uprated spring and it still popped! Hes running a 1.6. Simply went back to the standard spring in the end.
