mixture set up
hello ppl,
whats a basic rule of thumb to set up the mixture on the carb?
i have just fitted a new carb and it wont idle smooth and stalls. im guessing its the mixture. i can do it properly at work on the emisions tester but need to get it there first.
cheers

Re: mixture set up
Think the mixture screw should be turned out about 2.5 turns.if you have an afr gauge installed, 13.9 gives you about 1.5 % on your emissions. Might have to mess with your idle screw too dude.

Re: mixture set up
afr gauge is something i havent yet got. the carb is set to run safe at 20psi but i'll leave it at 14psi untill ive got the gauge.
so basic rule is full in and out 2.5turns t set it up roughly.
ive been playing with the idle but its hunting too much to set it up

Re: mixture set up
When I set mine up I tinkered with both the idle and mixture screw till I reached happy medium. I ended up with an idle of around 900 rpm

Re: mixture set up
If it's still a bit lumpy or stalling even after you adjusted the mixture, pull the idle jet out (big brass screw) blow it out and fire her up.
You might need to do that a few times
IF the prob is still there, check for air leaks around the carb
