This is a funny one but probably has some very boring explanation.
Drive car to work in the mornings. spend a few minutes parking it. Turn engine off, Lock it, get about 10 paces away from car and i hear a noise.
its a twang like if you where to throw a spanner at your bonnet. its a deffo Twoiiing metal noise.
it happens every time ive done a small journey,
Remember i have an auto box at present, i wonder if its that?

Hmmm, im not dead fat or anything.
What can it be? its loud.
Could it be the exhaust cooling down? is it a cross between a mitalic ping and a cracking noise?
Yeah thats the kind of noise. Its quite quick though like 10 seconds after ive turned car off.
Was it a spirited ten minute drive?
I've had a funny ticking noise after a drive, never figured out what it was but someone said it was hot oil dropping back down the engine, dunno if thats true
Sounds very much like your exhaust, lots of 5's do this, nothing to worry about. Just like the 'pop' some people get too.
