My Tungy J14GTT.. past few months and present..

Story goes i was looking for a 5 for a mate, me and carcrash went to Bods and i found a scabby looking 5 with with no mot/tax, lights, body kit, wings or bumpers but a pretty solid shell.. most bits were there but needed bolting on, so i did it all and had it dropped off on my driveway

    looked like this at first

then i gave it a touch up with rattle cans

    then a OE grill

then some morettes as my OE's were picked up on the mot for poor beam.. new OE are coming shortly..

then i got some Azev's goodyear eagle f1s all round

it looks like poop but has Mot and tax, runs like a dream and when driving is awesome..

i kept it pink for a few weeks as i really liked the colour then i painted it with the last few squirts out a can of tungy so it was pink/tungy fade.. body is utter tripe, washed with a wire brush by the last-last owner..

long time before it see's any wheels as i have lots to do and i make easy jobs draggggggggggggggg..

some little bits of welding to do, polybush the subframe, new trackrods, ball joints, calipers all round, hand brake cables, brake lines and flexi lines, new oe headlights, new indicators, funky fresh engine and t28, bolt the cage down, change the dial faces, new or replacement wings, new bumper.. still need a full hose set, buckets and a few other bits..

the car itself will be very sorted, but the body and paint aren't gonna be great unless it hits the paint booth..

yep, by the time i got it the bodyworks turned to 5h1t, ask any poor fecker thats looked at it i was thinking of leaving it standard and chucking it in for paint but i went the other way as i had parts ready to bolt on.. if i didn't buy it i think it would have been on a very slippery slope to the scrap yard as not many people want to pay out and paint a car..

oh I see, I go round yours yesterday thinking I'd get MY dials done and get a hand with the door pins, and end up taking your engine out while you take photos, spill gearbox oil everywhere and ponce about like Lois Spence, and then you sort your dials out without telling me

and to think I left some ice lollies in your freezer as well

Re: My Tungy J14GTT.. past few months and present..

not done much of anything to the car, mainly because i want the subframe blasted and powdercoated before i fit it again.. which just leaves the brakes to do which i haven't ordered any new copper pipe, i did have some but chris excell stole it..

im sorry to be another one going this route but unless i chuck a few grand at it im not going to the painters.. its rattle can time the paint really is poor, i wouldn't do it if i there was another option, i did try find new tungy wings, doors, boot, bumpers etc, but that still leaves me with a new windscreen surround that was painted in primer before i have it a piky coat of rattle can tungy..

so this its where its going..

got a stash on new bits ready to go on, valeo light are on, new indicators, bushes etc are all here.. just need to pull my finger out, but its stuck really deep

well, the cars been pretty much a shell for the last few weeks but not things are going on rather than coming off.. new copper brake lines at the front have been done with new goodridge hoses, the tanks been off to replace the fuel line and main brake lines, no rust or rot anywhere.. rear lines and goodridge hoses were also fitted and the tanks back on..

still not had the subframe sand blasted but that should get done after a few phone calls.. once thats blasted, welded, painted, poly bushed i can get the rest of the brakes bolted on, konis back on, wheels back on..

    and

    drop the lump in

the matt black ideas not the best i had but i'll be spending 2k before i even look at paint for the car.. it'll do for now..

subframes seem welded, wishbones are off having the bushes pressed in by a mate so i might just have it rolling this side of xmas.. very busy working so no time to work on the 5 but its being funded without a worry of the costs so can't complain..

gonne have to pull that reserve tank off as i didn't block that up till the welding was started today.. bet theres loads of sh1t floating about in there..

carcrash was over today, welded the rear mounts, sills and have started on the front 2 and more importantly the last 2 areas.. another day and the cars solid

then its time to put it all together again

welding it ups the easy bit. cutting it out and getting your patches how you want thems the hard bit.. i trimmed 2 of mine for perfect fitment, ones was a 50p sized hole so we welded a 50p piece over it, then the front sill was sorted from my old pattern sills lay'd over with a 1inch cover.. to big a patch to feck about with as it would warp..
