im looking at a big brake kit with hoses etc... but comes with ebc yellow stuff pads has anyone used these and what did you think of them? Im looking to be running 200bhpish and maby do a few track days. dose anyone have any sudgestions on alternative pads if these are no good? They did win some kind of award but it was from the likes of fast car or max power something like that so not worth a
Heard bad things about EBC, try CL (carbon Loraine) or Ferodo DS2500's

yer can get the kit with the ferodo DS2500's cost a little extra but dont mind paying if its going to make the difference.
I have never had a problem with ebc pads, but im not a big braker, im more controlled and smooth turning into corners.I used ebc green which alot of people hate, but then again everything is subjective.
the car will mainly be for road use but dose get driven hard and i like to know ive got some decent brakes when i need them.
imo i would rather cut a piece of cheese into the shape of a pad and stuff it in my caliper than use green stuff pads again not used yellow etc though ferodo for the win or as mentione carbon lorraine!
why are greens so hated? i've got some new ones in my garage that i have never fitted out of fear they will be crap

I think carbon Lorraine are sintered pads so watch out for your wheel paintwork.
i have only used standard pads so im in no position to judge but dont want to pay for pads find them ****e then have to buy another set so what ever people reckon are the best for the job is what i will be getting.

id be happy with a pad that doesnt shat itself/produce alot of brake dust. suggestions?
its not that there super super crap its the inconsistency that i dislike like sometimes they felt good other times they had no feel at all and didnt really seem to break any better than standard pads. i used them on a 205gti with a gti6 engine in it. maybe it was just my driving style? also i found there life span pretty poor to and they covered and i mean covered my wheels in brake dust after not loads of braking as i said this is only my experience with them ive never used them on a R5 though.Originally Posted by sphinX

what do you mean by standard pads? wouldnt dream of spending renault prices. mintex are cheap pagid also cheap but pretty good both oe spec.
Sorry I ment oe spec as we all know what Renault pricing can be like. I would use mintex as they have always seemed decent when I've used them and cheap.
EBC greenstuff are a good standard pad.
Yellow Stuff grip like hell when warm. Sold a lot. Never had a complaint.
Red stuff ive not tried.
how much is a full set of EBC pads?
RTOC gets a discount with EBC too
Green stuff are ok for day to day driving, put them on track and it's a totally different story fade sometimes followed by block o woo with no feel then if ure super lucky they set alight

Fluid choice on track can really make a BIG difference as well

Ollie, what fluid are you using? I am using the EBC mineral based fluid (i think 302+) or some wierd name and i am not a fan and is a total nightmare to bleed! My foot was hitting the stops at Brands remember!
AP600 fluid mate - mineral based - so still have to bleed fairly regularly unlike the synthetic stuff, just a lot cheaper, still works out at £12+ for half a litre though, I remember brands, didn't seem to slow you down much thoughhopefully i'll be out to play with the rest of the code red cars next time
Not really had any problems with bleeding my brakes, still got the standard calipers on though.. You've got the Hi-Spec 4pots on yours if I remember right? had a early set of those on my old Pulsar years ago, and had a nightmare bleeding them properly then, obviously not changed the design muchin the end I ended up getting a couple of big medical syringes and a bit of tubing and backfilled the system at the front.
