    Phase 2 tungy

New poster! (less than 10 posts)

Just thort I'd start a progress thread for my 5. As you can see it's looking standard and pritty clean, still a few things I want to tidy up. My plans are to keep the standard look but have a bit more bhp to it. The car is used as a daily driver and I do my best to keep it in pristine condition. Here are a few pictures..

First thing I done was refurb the speedlines, I pay'd £180 and got them powdercoated at romax, well worth the money

I got the wiper removed from the tailgate, I think it makes the tailgate look better..

I changed the steering wheel for a 300mil omp. It cost £100 for the wheel and hub, I think there just as gud as the mo teams if not better, especially the price you pay, the 300mil feels like the rite size for the car

I want the front dropping, I was thinking gaz coilovers or any better ideas?

The cheapest way to lower the front end is to purchase some -50mm lowering springs. Option B is a set of sports dampers which will give you adjustable damping with lowering springs fitted. If you have the money then yes Option C, a set of front coilovers will also do the job with the bonus being adjustable ride height.

Links below just to show options available, RTOC deal with companies that give us discount for suspension.

i changed rubbers and mounts on mine cost hundreds and had uprated konis i think and 50mm lowering springs ride was tight but comfy, not sure if coilovers replace old existing mounts etc but if they do get coilovers would be cheaper

50mm and the torsion bar adjusted IMO makes it look just right, i'm pretty sure i changed the bearings and rubber donuts as well which makes a big difference

I can't believe how much a set of full Koni sports suspensions comes out at compared to a coilover kit

Adjustable ride height on the front, the rears are probably an uprated damper but height adjustment is on the torsion bar

Iv always preferd coilovers because you can choose the hight you want, there's not a great deal of speed bumps were I live but there's always a way of getting round things I was thinkin about getting some 195 45 13s I think it will look subtle il see wot I think wen
    I lower it..

Yeah they look like the old school 90s Mondeo repeaters or the ones you could buy from the motor factors back in the day

I know it's not much but something small still makes a difference especially when it looks original all round. You can buy them from Eurocarparts for about £5-6 each or someone might have a set knocking about in their garage

I also went to Renault to get 1 of their dealer tax disc holders too as it has the name and logo on it

I'm not sure TBH mate, it's been a good couple of years since i've purchased std parts for a 5. When i ordered from from Renault i'd have to pay upfront then they'd get them in either from England or from France which would take 3-4 days, that didn't bother me as the 5 was a 2nd car on the drive. Parts like plugs, oil filter etc you'd get from Eurocarparts or GSF.

The person to try for Renault parts nowadays seems to be Phase 1 16V IIRC

    This was my old tungy

The bottom end, head and gasket were completely stock and untouched, boost was stock on a T2 turbo. strapped oe intercooler and carbon kevlar turbo heatshield. The only things changed in the engine bay was an induction type air filter and the boost circuit changed. I spent money on many oe parts like new boost hoses, expansion tank, hoses, straps, black vacuum hoses to keep it looking oe.

Thort I'd give the car a good clean this weekend

jackd the car up and took all the wheels off, cleand the inside of the rims and seald them, degreaced the arches/gave them a coat of wax oil..

    Degreace the archs

    (before)

    (after)

the degreacer done the job well

bilberry wheel cleaner is good stuff, gets rid of greace with out damaging the laquor on the paint as to products like wonderwheels

poorboys wheel sealant it top dog, smells lush aswel

gets a realy good shine and is a good sealant for brake dust

    products used..
