Where the hell did you find an RS200 space frame!?! That is just the ultimate.. I'd love to turn my engine round the same direction..
I can see the space frame fixes to the cage..Does it also bolt to the original rear subframe/beam mountings?
    Awesome car!

Re: my mid engined rwd cossied 5

Is not a genuine RS200 spaceframe, but an exact replica.
2 bars come down from the top of the rollcage hoop, onto the top of the spaceframe, 1 bolt each
2 big metal plates are boxed onto the front corners of the subframe and they bolt to 2 box sections fixed to the middle of the car near the rear jacking points, 2 bolts per side.
and 2 more plates at the rear of the subframe bolt to a box section at the back of the car inside the bumper. 4 bolts per side.

    So 14 bolts in total.
I can circle the bits in the pics tonight.

that would be much apprecaited.. did you have a rs200 frame to copy or did you base it on pictures?.. I'd really like to do this with mine but with just a lowly 172 engine it must improve the balance and handling no end!

its a kit you used to be able to buy but i dont think they do them anymore. just made smaller to fit in the 5 shell. lol

it does make it mid engined and almost all of the weight is in the middle of the car.
you would have to pretty much start again to get this in yours tho.
i will be up at a few meets soon so come have a look.
im hoping to get it taxed and motd a week sat.

Re: my mid engined rwd cossied 5

    bad new peeps.
i got the car running on sunday
got it all back together on monday and went for a test drive on tuesday and it broke. lol

the cam cover gasket blew between the cams and spark plugs resulting in this

the oil ran out of the fronnt and back breather holes of the cam cover, and onto the cambelt and flywheel
meaning the whole ****ing thing is now dripping in oil.

and then i lost all gears, it popped out of reverse while i was parking and then i couldnt get any gears.
im hoping the oil has caused the clutch to stick to the flywheel.

lets hope i can get it back together quick enough to get it mot'd on saturday for central day on sunday

other than that it was ok.

    some more update pics:
under floor panel with vents for cooling

    gearbox stripped

    rebuilt

just came in for dinner so thought id do an update. lol

    its all cleaned up,
i just used blue paper towel, and once it was as clean as i could get it i kept diluting it with degreaser till it was all gone.

jimbo, thanks for the offer but i have 1 on its way to me, should be here tomorow.

    and

ive taken the clutch out already. lol
it looks quite clean but im gunna give it a clean up anyway and start to put it back together now.

thats me done for the night
    found a few problems.
the spline on the clutch centre plate was all burred up, so i had to file that down so it was all clean.

also i have a small metal adaptor that goes in the back of the crank where the pilot bearing goes, that adapts the renault un1 box to fit.
that had clearance probs so ive grinded that down for more room.

then sanded and cleaned the clutch cover, plate and flywheel.

now the clutch and box are all back in and bolted up.

tomorow i will get the hydraulics back in and bled, exhaust back on, and as long as the gasket turns up i will do the camcover and get it back out for another test drive.

Nice work.. bit of a pain when you think you've just got everything up and running!

New poster! (less than 10 posts)

Really interesting project, great to see something like this, "a monster speed", what with a shot under in rounds, of course a lot of Power with Rear wheel may be a problem. Really interesting to see how Something like this flying, maybe you can share with us in the film.
