im looking for a fuel pump for the volvo conversion! I have been told that a pump from some bmw's will work also the escort rs turbo! I was wondering if anyone has used those 30quid pumps on ebay? They say they run at 5bar which seems like itll be enough but wanted to see if anyone has tried these and experienced any probs?
How much power are you going for? I asked the wizard and he said the phase one Gtt pumps are ok for standardish boost levels.I also know a member who has this enigine in his car and runs 1 bar of boost with this pump.

is doing the trick for me at 18 psi
I was only looking at 15-18 psi max as im only looking at using standard injectors with a rising rate regulator atm! But mite go for slightly bigger ones at a later date so want a pump that can also do that!
also would like it to fit in standard bracket and requite as little mods as poss! How does your one fit in dave?
my pumps are mounted in the boot with fuel pump clamps that i got from burton power mate

make sure u have excess capacity in the fuel pump as in litres/minute or hour!!no point in fitting a 20 bar micra pump

looks like gsf only have pumps for the gtx and efi parts only bosch 044 pumps 130 quid too for me fella. il keep me eyes peeled on the bay
I may be needing a new pump as im fitting bigger injectors and turbo and i dont know if the old one will handle it. I was wondering if any of these would be ok, or mainly if anyone has tried any of these and knows if they are good units?

pretty sure andy also suggested that pump. It would defo be the cheaper option over the bosch unit as you wont get much change out of £150 after buying fittings etc... I have emailed the seller to see what the manufacture warranty is and if its 1year like the bosch pump i will go for this.

Yeah that's the Pump Gary, think you'll need a 12mm fitting for the tank side of the pump though, from memory

this is what the bloke said about warranty.
There is a 90 day warranty on these pumps by Walbro. If there is a defect, you can send the pump to us, we'll in turn ship it to Walbro and they will test. If they determine the pump is defective due to a manufacturing issue, they will replace the pump free of charge. If they determine the pump to have failed from improper use or water in the fuel, they will return it and charge $30 for the testing.

well i bit the bullet and went for the bosch pump in the end worked out £20 more expensive but as i have had to modify the fuel pump bracket to take the oil golf pump it will mean i wont have to change it back

lol just pump the fuel straight in the cylinders sod the spark plugs that thing will push you along.
Spark plugs are up them self little cnuts anyway.
the only problem I have now is the inlet of the pump is 15mm. So do I run a new 15mm fuel hose to the tank or do I use the original fuel hose and just connect it to a larger bore hose for the pump? The reason I have the 15mm inlet is that it was recommended so that the pump does not run dry so wouldn't using the standard fuel line do this?

an 8-10mm id fuel line should be enough for what your going to run, try to avoid plastic fittings on fuel lines as might become brittle/break over time i.e when you least expect it (flat out in 4th or 5th)if you can find a brass or steel adapter so much the better
off the top of my head isnt the 044 bosch pump inlet a 18x1.5mm thread if so just try and find a 12mm push on/barbed to m18x1.5mm fitting

Just to add to this thread and warn peeps about the Walbro 255 aka GSL392 I purchased a brand new Walrbo 255 GSL392 at the end of May 2011 just when I started to do my engine conversion. The pump has only covered a max of 200miles now and the fecking thing has failed, I thought it was injectors so changed and I have changed everything on my fuel supply setup and only thing left is the pump.
I have contacted the seller on ebay whom advised me I myself need to go to Walbro direct, I have tried to phone and call Walbro since monday this week have had no response from them as yet.
I personally advice peeps to keep away from the Walbro pumps and use the Bosch pump's been on a few forum's now and the Walrbo's tend to fail quiet often and Walbro are harsh on the warrenty aswell.
Does anyone have a contact @ Walbro UK distributor? as I am really struggling here and need a pump not that I want a Walbro again really

Symptoms were a few weeks back after completing the conversion I decided to do some WOT test's all was good when i initally done them afr's @ 12.1 max, then a few days later it wasn't so good 13.8's so I turned boost down from 14psi to 8psi and afr's @ WOT were good again 12.2, again all ok for a few days then afr's bad so boost dropped to 4psi and afr's still bad
I have had the pump off and checked connection's, I have even removed the fuel filter just in case blocked and symptoms the same, I removed the pump and emptied it's content onto a clean white T shirt to see if any **** inside and nothing came out other than V power fuel.

Not bragging but the 044 is still going hasnt gone far but seems like a good reliable bit of kit.

They seem to make alot of noise when they are on the way out. I guess it is really when having a afr gauge becomes so important.
