Door locks to suit the keys?

Can you get door locks that are "coded" to suit the original keys? I have just bought a Renault Megane (1997) and the door lock is a little suspect. The car has only got one key and i would really like to keep it that way if at all possible?

    Cheers Chris

I'm pretty sure its the door lock it self as sometimes when you go to unlock it the key just turns and nothing engages to unlock the car. Its hasnt got central locking
