as a wise local rough estate resident once told me....
"put the plates on it off a taxed/Mot'd/insured car'

and i would recommend driving during the 5-7pm busy period too....

i wouldnt say i'd ever done this...or particularly recommend it.... you get my drift...

the only legal way to drive a car with no tax or mot is while you
are driving it to a pre-booked mot test .

get the car insured for the day if you want to be %100 bullet proof .
book an mot test for 2-3 hours after you want to move the car
to its new home ,obviously book it in a garage local to the new place
(dont forget to take name and number of garage as well as
booking it under the registration )

drive the car, park up at destination ,put the kettle on and get a cup of
coffee/tea while you are thinking how you will blag the garage and tell
them you want to cancel the mot

    jobs a good one
