    Rob's Phase 1 build-up

Hi guys and gals iv been on here a while but not posted up any pics or stuff on my car yet so i thought it was about time, i brought this phase 1 about 3 months ago but havent really touched it as im waiting for my other car to sell (saxo vtr w-reg £1200 ) before i can get this in my garage and do some real work too it.

i was looking for a red phase 1 for ages cus i used to have a mint one a few years ago an i really regret selling it, i eventualy found this one in south wales.
its pritty much standerd apart from a stainless side exit and down pipe and a dumpvalve, it came with loads of recepts and paperwork.

thats pritty much how it came altough i do have the grill and foglamps in the boot.

Im a big fan of the "euro" streatched look so o trial fitted my smoor racing 13x8 alloys today

it definatly needs the ride hight sorting so some coilovers and good rear dampners will be next on the cards along with some uprated brakes all round.

I do have some other stuff stashed away to go on the car ( Recaros,Harnesses,GT Tunning rear brace etc) so i will get some more pics up when its all fitted.

    Re: Rob's Phase 1 build-up

Just come back from a fairly sucsessfull trip to Renault as iv a brand new set of Gaz coilovers and thought it would be best to get new topmounts as the old ones have done 100,000 and were looking a bit worse for ware, while i was there i managed to get a pair of numberplate lights that thay had kicking about for £20 and also sell a GTT gearbox to one of the parts guys
I also managed to order up a badge for my phase 1 grill (on back order in france) i was expecting them to say there not avalible so im happy with that.

Heres the new coilover compaired to the old Spax unit.

and heres the bits they had in stock, the rest will be in on tuseday so i will update again on wednesday when there fitted.

    Thanks for reading

    Re: Rob's Phase 1 build-up

Hi guys, long time no update so...

Iv done a fue its recently, first of all the new Dials are in and look fantastic! any one who hasnt brought some get to the club shop and get um ordered.

    Old

VS New, i went with the KPH just for that french feel and it looks cleaner.

Also got rid of the side exit exhaust as it was scraping on the smallest of bumps after i put the new coilovers and wheels on. i now have a 3" rolled out scorpion fitted (thanks to 6129 (a member on here)) it sounds great and looks spot on. i have also sorted some Yokos for my 13x8 smoor racing wheels

and fitted a new exhaust to my mates 5 (sorry for the crap pic)

So i have now booked the Santa pod day off work so just gotta complete my long list of stuff to do before then.
    - Fit B&M short shift
    - Fit Hard boost pipe
    - Fit passangers seat and harnesses
    - Fit alarm
    - Repair and fit grill

Great looking car, just needs some phase 1 side graphics now I am not jealous of your car at all, not one bit

I would buy the dial set too if i could fit them accurately without destroying them and the needles

I brought my old Red phase 1that had only done 35000 miles from a chap called Dunc lived in Bournmouth and had a white phase 2 with 8000 on the clock, but that was too clean to moddify and i was racking up the miles on it so i sold it and regreted it ever since, this one has done about a million miles so i dont feel so bad "playing" with it.

Cheers for all the comments guys see ya at the Pod

    Re: Rob's Phase 1 build-up

Its been a while since i updated this and as i was looking through my camara i found loads of pics of what iv been up to the last couple of months.

So first off was my engine bay, I had been asked to attend FCS to have the car on the Boostjunkies.co.uk (for all your turbo part needs ) stand as the owner is a mate of mine so i was determind to get my engine bay looking a bit smarter. First off was creating a air filter box behind the N/S headlamp.

First off i got rid of the ugly phase 1 headder tank and cleared some space.

Then i made a card board template of the area i wanted to cover

Then i copied that shape on to a sheet of carbonfibre and sorted my pipe run to the turbo inlet

then i popriveted the carbon in place and fitted my hardpipeing that i got from Rob @ Backyard and it looked a bit like this

Still nothalf as tidy as i would have liked so next up was Front mount oil cooler, GT tuning bread bin intercooler, chrome rocker (good for an extra 10bhp ) GT tuning ninja star oil cap and chrome skuttel cover as well as relocating the headder to the skuttel.

Then it was off to my first RTOC pod day, and one of my favriot days this year!

Then off to FCS, where i managed to split a hose just as i pulled up to the stand covering the traders etherside of us in Halfords finest antifreeze

And last but not least Mallory park

Thanks for putting up with my picture whoring.
    Rob
