The start of a new project :)

Right thought i'd start a little progress thread, altough i think progress will be slighly slow this time of the year. picked up my latest 5 3 weeks ago now its in need of some tlc but the shells solid and so's the engine which is what i wanted as its my daily driver.
my future plans are really to just tidy it up cosmetically make sure brakes are good and suspension etc fit some bucket seats harness's and maybe a cage and make it ras relaible as i can as i want to do some trackdays next year in it. gonna leave the power as it is which is just standard as its still plenty of fun for the moment.i gave it a clean this morning so decided it was time for some pics. cleaning a black car is a nightmare!!!

painting the wheels anthracite would look better than black so they wouldnt blend into the car so much, red calipers aswell to set the wheels off. Nice tidy car though pal! Youve found a nice on there!!

would anyone like to hazard a guess at what springs it has on the front? 30mm go down to 50?

Re: The start of a new project :)

thats a not -50mm spring, the top of the tyre would be sitting closer to the arch.

so i'd go with saying you more than likely have a -30mm spring set

They look 10x better on your car than they did on mine! nice one dude

Black on black looks shweet, just keep the tyres glossed.

They way you talked about your car it sounded like it was rough as...........the pics look good. I wouldn't go matt black

instead of spending money and time on paint, wouldn't you be better going to a local place that can give it a good mop and paint recondition, this doesn't cost alot but might give better results than you think.

Your not doing it before POD right? get d6n to have a look at it. he knows all about paint correction etc. i'll ask him to bring some products, you could try it on one skirt etc to see how it comes up?

Re: The start of a new project :)

well was gonna maybe do it this wkend ive got a rear quarter in primer at the minute so something needs doin with that but worst case scenario i could rattle can that gloss just to keep the elements off it and then get a bodyshop to do it. hmmm you've filled me full of doubt now i was all set for the matt black look.

plus the thing is like the paint is flaking off like the rear bumper in places and its red underneath it looks rubbish. it would need a seious paint correction with a da polisher which would prob cost the same as getting some panels sprayed professional detalers charge a fortune

Fair enough dude, i haven't seen the paint so took it on the merit of your photo's i'm guessing they were took carefully as it looks fine in the photos

In that case go for it

its cool mate i know a lot of people arent in to the matt finish and i can understand why believe me i'd rather have a mint gloss black car but im saving for a house and my car is my daily driver so it cant be off the road for weeks at a time nor could i afford it so this was the lesser of 2 evils for me i know its not perfect but i like the track car look and i like it
