I like it just the way it is,

although some festive decoration, would have been nice this time of year,

even renault5gtturboowners.com has managed some reindeer backgrounds

Ah well, no one responded to my "make a new logo" request and my original one was compared to the tacky christmas decorations that you made when you were 5, and that your mum insists on putting out each year regardless. *lol*

I dont mean to sound like a grumpy old fart but I think christmas and everything to do with it is pony. The only thing I like about it is its an excuse to get drunk as fcuk. I dont even have a tree, lights or for that matter any kind of decorations, I dont have time to piss around its time I could be spending in the garage making something, fettling something or generally making something go faster.

I only wish for a couple of snowflakes in all the black space next to the rtoc logo, I have no idea how much work is involved in doing this as im no IT expert.

    Dear santa

I dont want any toys for christmas this year, but i would very much like some magic snowflakes to appear on one of my favourite websites

    Thanks and merry xmas

That'll come sooner than you think, like over Christmas time most likely It'll be the first step toward the return of the Area rep system.

In what ways ? (genuinely, I'm interested)

The new site has a stack more features that the old one didn't. The forum is leagues ahead with the ability to post pictures, files, polls, galeries... profiles are better with the ability to add whole albums and not just 6 static images. We have new applications, a more organised files system, improved wizard and contacts services and soon to arrive will be a new and much improved area rep system.

What more did you want ?

all true but the countless photos members had uploaded, video clips, all the funny profiles with moving images ...it just seemed a lot easier to use and a real hub for all things renault turbo.......... in my opinion........dont get me wrong i look forward to getting online here...... but for what ever reason the old site is gone i'm gutted......i know and appreciate all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes from yourself and many others.. cheers...:ho::ho::ho:

ah well, loosing all that content from users was a kick in the knackers.

Re easier to use, your probably right, but I think it was easier to use because it did less. I also think that for whatever system you're used to, you will always miss it when it is gone.

absoloutely nowt wrong with constructive criticism, but I get a bit defensive when it isn't constructive

Re: the old club was a million times better

The old site was familiar, i don't like change!

the new site is more advanced and loads better, it has brought the club up to date and hopefully will keep the club going by keeping old members happy and attracting new members, in princible it's the same as buying a 20 year old French car with a carb and doing an efi conversion to bring it up to date. Some will say the carb is better some will say the efi

When the old site went down and we came back on line it high lighted the actual amount of active members we have, mostly the regular posters but slowly member numbers are growing again so the site must be doing something right as it seems every day there are less and less classic turbo'd renaults on the road. I'm sure one day the 5 will be out numbers by twingos and the site must adapt and adjust to accomadate this

I think the thing is the old site was unique, hence why it can't be replaced.
Move on guys, Scoff & prob some others, have put alot of thier own spare time into the site & they get little or nothing in return (except someone bitching now & again)
Be thankful we have a site to be talking bollocks on again.

I agree with Eug on that front. But we have lost a lot of data and if its unrecoveable, well, we can do **** all about it really

On the other hand, I think this site is better to navigate and use in general.

For me it goes without saying that everyone who was involved in getting this site up and running, deserve a huge amount of credit

The site and the content are two separate things. The old content was lost (in the main), plus the good stuff was mingled in with an endless pile of b8llocks anyway.

This site is way ahead of the old one and the current content, whilst not as extensive as the decent stuff of old, is still very good and more accessible.

And what was wrong with the existing santa smiley? -

I'd also like to point out that perhaps the main difference and indeed one of the problems with the current 'site' is that it's not the same set of people of old. There are a swathe of top folk who are no longer here (and haven't been for some time now) who moved on for various reasons. And many of those that have arrived since just don't offer the same quality/banter/knowledge/honesty. I should know, I've been here longer than almost any member.

Someone put me right if im talking complete pony as I have not been around these parts for long but I think some of the senior members who have a lot of knowledge are not going to give it when some members are not willing to listen anyway. Prime example being Mart and his posts. I know that would really piss me off and if in the future the same person were to ask a question about anything I would more than likley not answer or simply tell them to get fcuked.

If everyone knew Eug, they'd know he's a serial piss taker... Like father, like son...

He's merely respdonding to the lack of visual attributes the old site had stored, which he likes. Being a black cab driver he likes road signs (pictures).

The site, itself, has far expanded from Chris' helpfulness. To be honest, I can't see why the thread has turned out into what it has. OK, people miss clicking on other members profiles and waiting 5 minutes for them to load with the pictures and mass youtube links, or if Brizza was still a member you'd be waiting all day for his profile to load with his life story.

Moving on, we're now talking about technical info... There's actually an allocated section for that where there's a ''Team'' to advise on. You've got to bear in mind, even though the site has been up far shorter than the old one, there's alot less irrelelvant information to go through.

Who's going to buy a 20-25 year old car without knowing what it does, apart form Eugein?

Eug picks up on anything he doesn't like and makes a comment about it. It's gay on the interweb but funny in person.

if he's drifting he's losing, as I was spinning the rear wheels in the 200 at 1500rpm earlier, at less than half throttle too

    Who's Mart?

The site is excellent and personally I'm glad we've still got a site/club to log on to. If it wasn't for the hard work of some members we wouldn't. It's a shame we lost all the info from the old site but hey ho - you can still find the answers to pretty much any Renault turbo issue if you just ask on the boards or the Wizard.....

JITSOA5, you're one of the members who's right up there in this club, giving regular input on the boards, turning up to events, helping others out. You seem like a top bloke. You know the difference between you and the ballast I'm referring to mate.

There's still a core of decent folk here, I'm not saying there isn't. If it were complete s**te then I wouldn't be a member. It's the percentages I'm whinging about. I'm also backing the new site if you re-read my post.

You're also right about the scene being like a roundabout, hence why I said that people left for various reasons, it's just evolution. However, one of those reasons was certainly due to do with becoming disillusioned with the club.

Eugiene himself used to post a lot more (I'm not sure why that's changed). In fact I used to enjoy trying to work out what he was on about as most of what he said was either cryptic or intentionally bananas. He is one of the characters who's missed.

My own icon? Wicked. Well, it was me that sorted out the extra smilies on the site (did you know that), and I picked out the one for Mart in particular. I'm old (well, 32), grumpy and sarcastic and my eyebrows and jawline make me look like Sam Eagle from the muppets, so I fit with his look and personality, hence my avatar.

Trix - You're also right; no members no club. But then what would be the point of a club full of nothing but dimwit f**kers who want to rip each other off, or folk who post up server-sapping Citroen AX rebuild projects?
