I ran my grey 5 with just a manifold and downpipe... no exhaust for a few weeks... was suprisingly quiet....

I did toy with the idea of just doing a straigh 2.1/4" exhaust all the through like the old cup cars...

i ran a straight through 2.5 inch on my clio turbo, let a mate drive it while i stood at the top of the a419, the visable end of it was 2.5 miles away and when he went outa site i could still hear him, after that and been pulled lots of times and been told it sounded like a spitfire on take off i decided to put a boxed system back on

depends alot on cam and turbo.
std car would be alot quieter than a lairy cammed car with a t25/t28 on it!

I ran my old car with a T25 back on a .49, from the downpipe once. That was loud until, I had to put up with a GT30 on a 3'' system with no baffle.

Even from hearing the cars on track yesterday, most of them were much quieter than I thought they'd be. Especially the cars with side exits.

Buy a standard centre peice of exhuast as they have a silencer in the middle, then just make a side exit of that, cheap cheap cheap
