nah there's no excuses in drag racing, the car is either right or its wrong and mine was wrong that day. was looking for the timing slip, seem to have lost it this end.

as an asside, I've just finished getting the gt35/40r on, lag has increased further, so I really must fix that gear change issue I have.

more lag can never be good sounds like you need a little shot of gas

Still having issue's with the box, have you checked it out? Or are you going to?

I've still got the timing slip somewhere lol, could try take a picture and post it up?

    Re: A lucky escape!!!!!

I can cope with lag as long as I can keep it on the boil. that day I was dropping out of boost because of me having to double clutch it up the strip. wierd effect, the more load I put through the gearbox the worse the synchos work. I have some redline MTL synthetic race oil, supposed to be very good at cold shifting, so will try that. It seems that my VW gearbox is supposed to run on some VW oil, which aparantly is super thin, and here's me putting 80/90 in it..

    Re: A lucky escape!!!!!

I was also going a full 5mph quicker whenever I did a warm run too. can only assume that the cold thick gear oil is very lossy in the new gearbox. the GT35r is ball bearing, so while it's a little laggier getting into spool from low rpm's it actually doesn't seem to drop out of spool as easilly between gears. Hopeing this might help too.

its an avi, but here's an incar video from that day showing the problem. note the lag between gears as a result: https://www.rtoc.org/dev/problematic-gear-changing.avi

Standard JB3, although I'm on the 3rd one now. I run a tilton 7/14" clutch.
