Not going to sell it anytime soon then? :(

I'm at a bit of a crossroads....

I think my clutch has has some kind of catastrophic event, I suspect the fingers or release bearing, but either way it won't disengage. Initially I'd hoped for cable or pedal, but they both seem OK.

so do I

- just sell it as a project and move on with my life (it's just passed it's MOT).

- put it back together with a new clutch and either keep or sell

- put it back together with a gripper diff and keep it

- put it back together with a turbo and keep it

a combination of the above...

if I went turbo I'd still like to keep some reliability so it'd be a low boost high compression job using a remapped PH1 ECU. Maybe I should fit a 197 head, or maybe an complete 225 engine and box (again using the PH1 ECU).

I'm open to offers, suggestions and recommendations, but I don't want a massive project or bill. I'll give it a budget of £1500. I have the gripper but it will want rebuilding and fitting.

Did take a look at that 197 head conversion which somebody done on another forum, looked like it was a good conversion to then put a low boost turbo conversion on it, though I seem to remember they did put a tiny turbo on there and still seemed to make good amount of power for what psi they were running.

As for doing that kind of conversion without know how the car drives / handles it could be that it will be too much power for such a little car and take out more enjoyment out of it.

Think of it as somewhere between a 172 and a 5, it has the width and brakes of a 172 with the weight of a 5, it could use some anti rollbars though, it's impossible to unstick the rear.

maybe you need to make a buy it as it is offer ;)

by the way, it's separated at birth Twin was on Ebay a couple of weeks back, same colour and trim, and only 2 digits different in the number plate. Same guy must have brought them both in from Spain.

Sounds like it will be a great laugh with the gripper in place and a little more power with either the 197 head conversion or the small boost turbo conversion.

Though Chris hasn't got a Renault at the moment

I think I speak for all of us here when I say, keep it, fix it, make it quicker and give us pictures along the way. Then move on with your life :D

Is it no longer your daily driver?

Sounds like you've already decided to fit the turbo'd 225 with gripper diff?

Are you selling up with the rainbow warrior also? What do you do with yourself these days?

yep, it's my daily. I still have the Delica for towing, camping, winter, moving big stuff... I don't do many miles and the Twingo only goes to work so it only did about 3Kmiles last year, and I think that included a trip to France. I also have an Austin 7 that I drive to work on nice days and pub runs.

I really need to reduce the stuff I have, I'm not selling the Delica (it's too useful) and I'm not selling the 7 (well, unless somone offers silly money :) ), so everything else is open to offers.

Anyway, unless I see some hard cash soon I'll pull the engine out of the Twingo, and it'll probably have the gripper fitted. If I can find a manifold and downpipe for the right price and soon it may get a turbo.
