alright everyone as some of you might already know my car is now off the road for winter it was due for mot this month but i decided take it off the road and save up for a few things first.

right then so to the upcoming plans

get new rear brakes fitted
new horn/compressor fitted
new top rad hose
fit rear strut brace
after the above take car for m.o.t and see whats what hopefully it will pass ;)

We then move onto progressing the car onto the next stages first of all with a new paint job keeping the tungsten grey and adding a louvered bonnet that i have here.

Engine wise im looking at getting the t25/t2 hybrid with .63 housing i have here rebuilt with a 360 deg bearing and getting that fitted and running at around 18-20psi. Iv also been in touch with scoff regarding an aem wideband kit so santa will be bringing me that to get the carb set up and fuelling bang on. I also am getting the inlet and exhaust manifold ported and possibly getting ian nixon to give the cylinder head a rework as currently its a very bog standard port job. cam wise am unsure what to do as i have the early bb tuning racing cam which i believe is a tad milder than a piper 270 and i understand a 285 works best with a full t25 or t28 so if anyone can point me in the right direction id appreciate that :)

moving onto the cooling side im hoping to replace the gtt double cap i/c i have with a forge fmic that sits behind the standard bumper (no bumper cutting for me) :agree: and thinking of taking advantage of the space gained from losing the gtt cooler by fitting a bmc cda induction kit and directing the cold air from an open mouth front grill possibly (unless i can drop on a set of morettes and feed the cold air through there)

might also look at shedding a few kg off the car but removing the rear seats is a no go so iv looked at possibilty of polycarb windows which according to plastics4performance lose 9-10kg and im also considering a set of team dynamics pro race 1.2 if anyone has any other ideas of ways to strip a bit more weight please let me know.

Markey Mark (BD)

I personally wouldn't go for a Forge front mount mate, there not too great. Prob best off getting a universal one and making the pipe run yourself and run it the way you want to, will work out abit cheaper too. ;)
Also with the air filter, nothing wrong with a normal cone filter positioned nicely so its away from hot areas and gets a good feed of air, but if you prefer the carbon box one thats cool. :agree:

Weight saving, depends how serve you want to go inside, you could strip everything out which will lighten it up a far bit but won't have much in there plus road noise goes up a few db! :D

cheers mark i do remember us chatting regarding an fmic a bit ago i defo want one thats not going require butchering the front end, would be good if you could maybe have a look into that for me again and see what costs come back :). im a bit surprised that forge ones aint meant be that good as they have a rather good name in most areas.

i do think ill go with the bmc as i know i will be able keep alot more hot air out with that kit and hopefully make more power i might even get a back to back test done with the gtt ram raid and the bmc and see what happens.

weight wise i want keep it as an everyday hence keeping the back seats the option of polycarb windows and lighter wheels could save me 10-15 kg maybe more i want keep the car with full interior, would removing the sound deadening then refitting carpet etc remove anything worthwhile ?

21-10-2010, 18:13
Grams make kilos, you wont lose 7-10kg just changing the glass for lexan, you may do if you remove the window winders and chop the inner skin out.

Markey Mark (BD)
21-10-2010, 18:15
I think the ram riad air filter you have now will work better if its positioned in a different place, the fact it pulls air in across the whole filter rather than sucking it through a smaller hole in a case wold work better for me straight away.

To be honest just loosing sound deadening woulddn't do too much, i'd loose the bigger things first if you was going to do it (rear seats, trims etc) but if you want to keep it very functional then i'd prob leave as is mate, they still go well enough with it all in.

Yeah i'll hae look for intercooler for you if you want and pipework.

BluntyR5GTT
21-10-2010, 18:16
i was a bit skeptical about that myself was just going off what that company said, like i say i want keep it as road friendly as poss but with losing a few uneeded kgs :)

Brigsy
21-10-2010, 18:17
I wouldnt bother with porting the head myself, at your power level it wont make much difference imo ;)

Go for the universal fmic too, the forge kit is pony:)

BluntyR5GTT
21-10-2010, 18:21
yes iv got keep the rears in there mark due to me having family commitments :).

right with regards to the air filter if i can keep the ram raid id be happy i do have a standard cold air feed here off the original air box what i could maybe fit and direct a tad more cold air to that as i know they are much better relocated away from that mega hot turbo etc

defo look into the i/c and pipework mate its got be done for the level i want to get to also does the gtt gain any bhp/torque from fitting a fmic ?

rs250nut
21-10-2010, 18:29
My old fmic was a universal one like markey said fitted behind a standard bumper and worked a treat, I think the dimentions were 550x300x70 the m owns it now. To be honest I dont think you need a bigger intercooler on a gtt with a small turbo, the weight and drag of a massive intercooler are not worth it.

BluntyR5GTT
21-10-2010, 18:32
thanks for that mate :)
i do fail to mention that ill be looking into changing the t25 front to a t28 and mating that to the .63 t2 housing (this obviously when im bored of the t25/t2) lol. i dont want a big lag monster but want something that is good enough to upset alot of things and also has the fuelling/cooling to an maximum :)

rs250nut
21-10-2010, 18:35
The gt tuning "ram raid" kit is a pile of ****. All it is is a standard filter with a pretty trumpet in it with a piece of foam slaped on the end. At minimum I would cut the telephone hose in half and then point the filter towards the grill,or place it behind the headlight and sheild it with a bit of carbon, aluminum, stainless etc

just been having a look at universal intercoolers and fount this site

http://www.universalintercooler.org/buyonline.htm

from looking at them would a medium one be the best or would a large fir without having cut the bumper ?

Markey Mark (BD)
21-10-2010, 19:57
Medium should fit ok, might require slight trim of bumper but won't take away the original look of the bumper.

The larger one will start to require bit more trimming but they will all still look like an original bumper.

BluntyR5GTT
22-10-2010, 07:48
right i shall go for a medium one then a bloody steel at £85 i say. what i could do with help with is getting the right pipework for it

BluntyR5GTT
22-10-2010, 07:53
just fount these on the net universal i/c pipe kits

http://www.txautosport.co.uk/universal-intercooler-pipe-kits-10-c.asp

should imagine one of them would be ok ?

22-10-2010, 09:17
thats what i bought matey good bit of kit pipes are a good thickness;)

just fount these on the net universal i/c pipe kits

http://www.txautosport.co.uk/universal-intercooler-pipe-kits-10-c.asp

It'll be a case of cutting them to length, routing them around the engine bay and joining them up. There are a few routes you can do it just depends which way you want to route it.

Only thing i will say is if you go for this kit check the joiners, some universal kits have really bad joiners and don't do the job.

BluntyR5GTT
23-10-2010, 12:47
cheers for the heads up much appreciated, ill get ian nixon sort it me, hey mark did you have any joy in finding an ep cam?

BluntyR5GTT
25-10-2010, 15:11
well guys got a bit of an update iv managed to buy a full t25 turbo from a 200sx so that will now be the turbo going onto my car :)

Markey Mark (BD)
25-10-2010, 17:24
well guys got a bit of an update iv managed to buy a full t25 turbo from a 200sx so that will now be the turbo going onto my car :)

You want to be changing the rear housing on that turbo mate. ;)

BluntyR5GTT
25-10-2010, 17:31
whats the rear housing size ? also even if i kept the 200sx housing would it make it as laggy as a t28? id imagine it would still pull hard up with the 200 housing ?

rs250nut
25-10-2010, 18:35
I think that turbo has a .64ar turbine housing on it, I could imagine it would be quite laggy. All depends on what cam and how hard you want to rev it. T28 turbos are a mix of t25 and t3, usally with a t25 turbine wheel and housing and a t3 comp cover and 60mm wheel. You have the same turbine housing and turbine wheel as a t28.

BluntyR5GTT
29-10-2010, 06:37
yes it has the .64 housing its off the s13 200sx :agree: going get a .49 housing on there and a 360 deg bearing fitted :)

got a bit of an update iv purchased an open mouth front grille 2nd hand but its like new am sure these must be a tad better at getting cool air into the engine bay.

im also considering taking my car up for an mot today yes i know it will fail on back brakes but i have them in the boot and a few other bits.

BluntyR5GTT
30-10-2010, 14:24
so the plans for the new year are as follows

fit new rear brakes
fit new top rad hose and turbo to water pump hose
fit new horn compressor
fit rear strut brace

take car for m.o.t hopefully it passes if not sort any little things that need doing.

take car to turning heads to get the bodywork sorted and louvered bonnet and open mouth front grille fitted and sprayed

fit new front mount intercooler
fit t25 turbo
wire in new wideband gauge kit and set fuelling for 20psi
port match inlet/exhaust manifolds

then off to psi tuning for a rr day that am organising if anyone interested please see events thread :agree:

20-01-2011, 11:38
thanks danny :)

iv decided not get the work done on my car this month due to the clutch deciding its had enough and becoming virtually impossible to get into 1st or reverse lol

so iv already bought an uprated clutch from steveL and am looking into a l/b flywheel courtesy of big jim racing, iv re booked my car in for the 16th of next month so i can have all the following done

fit new clutch and lightweight flywheel
fit new rebuilt t25/t2 .63 turbo (t28 pulsar wheel and cosworth comp housing)
fit fmic
fit 285 cam,vernier and springs
fit aem wideband kit and plasma gauges
fit new rebuilt carb jetted for 20psi and check fuelling is spot on

should make for a total different car once done :)

Fitting them will be a really good idea matey especially for the air feed, what you need to do is box of the filter behind the light area and relocate the header tank if you have not already done so. I ran that setup a few years back was very good.

What you want to do is get a nice set of HID xenon 6000k bulbs in there:agree:

BluntyR5GTT
03-03-2011, 15:30
im thinking of re locating the header tank now iv got the morettes, iv also got a gt tuning bumper vent which will get a tad more cool air in there :)

right onto the bulbs iv been reading different things recently regarding them are some illegal ?

I thought I recognised them off that 5, use to see it at newcatsle I loved it, anyone no who owns it now?

Blunty have you got that intercooler fitted? Does all the pipes fit round the bay that come with it? Was thinking about getting the same one

BluntyR5GTT
08-03-2011, 23:26
Funny you should ask that fella. The intercooler is too big to fit behind the bumper there is no way of getting the pipework to it without it fouling on something. Maybe if ghe bumper was cut out then it would be possible but im not prepared do that and ruin the looks. So iv bought a cosworth 4x4 intercooler which fit really well.
Also hit a prob with the turbo with the oil feed union we have tried 4diff ones and none fit even tried pirtek and they couldnt help.

BluntyR5GTT
08-03-2011, 23:38
Iv Actually put the full fmic up for sale but not bothered on here as i dont want sell something that might not fit even with a cut front bumper.

you know the saying waiting for a bus and 2 come along well so was the case with intercoolers iv now got 2 4x4 cosworth intercoolers here so ill stick one up for sale asap.

dropped the intercooler down to automedics and justin had been all over stoke trying sort this turbo oil feed union its ended up with us having get a complete custom feed made up for £58 which im happy with as it means it will be ready for dyno day next sat :) so all being well ill be out testing it thursday evening

Project looks good but I have to wonder why you haven't done any of the work yourself? the fun of having these cars is the driving of them and then fixing of them and doing the upgrades and mod's yourself.

How big are the 2wd cossie coolers? from memory aren't they a smilier size to the OE r5 intercooler apart from the cossie jobbie can be moved to a better air flow place but then has a much longer piperun so is it really going to be good for the boost and power you are wanting to run?? I would have stuck with the GTTuning intercooler personally over the 2wd cossie version

BluntyR5GTT
17-03-2011, 11:22
cossie 2wd ones are 4" thick and 20" long they are good for 270bhp its defo free up some space for the air filter got a bit more air flow as well as iv got the morrettes on with small light taken out and also gt tuning bumper vent

honestly mate i much prefer just let someone do it, but i am starting to get alot more involved and taking alot in since owing the gtt

All i can say is wow and how impressed i am with my new set up especially my new turbo its amazing pulls like a train. Iv also removed the dump valve which will please alot of people on here lol. Got the air filter mounted up behind the grille as well. Just gotta fine tune the carb and give it a good clean tomorrow evening

thought i would now start updating this thread as a follow on to my spring/summer thread.

http://www.rtoc.org/boards/showthread.php?t=21274

As some of you might know iv now started working on saturdays with justin down at automedics (am motorsport) and this has an added bonus of a 10% discount for any RTOC member :)

so as of know im going be getting alot more involved with doing the work on my car and learning alot more with it.
Currently my car is down at automedics due to me removing the turbo to get a bigger turbine wheel machined into my .63 t2 housing to match up with the t28 comp side ;), also my bloody drivers side wheel bearing give up after around 220-230 miles so mike sent me a new one up for half price (top fella).
I will receive the turbo back this coming week so that will be fitted along with the wheel bearing and given its 1st proper test at the weekend as im off to the rsoc national day at donington park :agree: might find a few rs to have a play with :burnrubber:

Its then off to the PFC RTOC Dyno day @ WGT next month that iv organised to see what it makes which im really looking forward to. after that its a case of enjoying the car before the winter sets in, once its December my car is coming off the road and staying inside at automedics so we can do a full strip down of the car fit a new bonnet and drivers door then sort all the bodywork out :) also going for a full polybush set to replace the standard bushes and want a new pair of rear shocks (possibly koni)
Engine wise were going to take the head off and fit a set of group a valves from prima racing and an external wastegate plus water injection. we are going to inspect the bottom end to see how the liners, pistons and rings look if they look a bit tired then they will be replaced also.

hoping to get the car on track and on the 1/4 mile scene as much as poss next year and ill also obviously be organising more dyno days and want try get us a club stand at the cholmondeley pageant of power

BluntyR5GTT

well after a few delays we finally fitted my new turbo on friday, and my god what a difference its made, the car was quick before but now its in a total different league it actually took me by surprise on how quick it was eg spinning the wheels in 3rd in the dry :D. Only gained around 200rpm lag which i am impressed with seeing as iv gone from a t2 turbine in the .63 t2 housing up to a t28 turbine and shaft.
so its now all systems go for next months dyno day at wgt cant wait to see how it goes

BluntyR5GTT
26-09-2011, 16:12
bloody hell guys i can believe how insane the car is now, it was a real quick car before but with this new turbo set up its a complete animal and you have to keep your eyes on the road all the time as there isnt time to look at any gauges lol

going to be really interesting at wgt next month as justin who built grants old 236bhp r5gtt reckons mine is slightly quicker with 5psi less boost, best thing is we can up the boost a few more psi as fuelling seems to be rather safe atm

Welcome to the world of uncontrolable 5's!:D

They do have abit of a punch when wound right up, always said you'd be better off with the T25 wheel in the back ;)

BluntyR5GTT
26-09-2011, 16:19
mark its not got the t25 in the back mate it has a pulsar t28 one

absolute insane set up love it :)

tubbyG
26-09-2011, 16:57
sounds awesome :burnrubber:..... So whats the spec of the pulsar t28's then? has yours been rebuilt to suit the 5 more?

I have seen a few turbo's on ebay from pulsars but the sellers rarely list the a/r numbers

BluntyR5GTT
26-09-2011, 17:02
right matey the full spec of my turbo is as follows

cosworth t3 comp housing
pulsar t28 comp wheel
.63 t2 exhaust housing
pulsar t28 shaft and turbine machined into t2 housing

its an hybrid iv had made up and my god its an animal

you certainly dont wanna be chucking a pulsar turbo on there thats for sure iirc they have .86 ex housing and .60 comp housing they also have bigger trim wheels than an 200sx t28 turbo

having a pig of a time with my car atm seems like it doesnt like going anywhere anymore lol,
fitted a new hub and bearing yesterday morning went out for a little blast up the d road and then back to pick my mrs up to go out for the day.
Needless to say we got 5 mins up the road from mine then a big snap/bang noise and clutch pedal went to the floor :(, so bonnet up and checked the cable which was still in place then i looks in the drivers side footwell and a piece of the adjuster was on the floor cleanly snapped :( (this thing was bought new and has covered around 300-350 miles).
So i managed to drive the car home without a clutch and am now awaiting a replacement adjuster was really gutted yesterday and for the first time said i was prepared to sort it and sell it after the dyno day this month and i actually still feel the same way this morning

BluntyR5GTT
20-10-2011, 06:11
they weigh around 830-850kg if memory serves me right lol

it should really fly 210 as i have a similar set up to an old member off here and he made 236bhp, it made 178bhp last time on a smaller turbo with no headwork etc at 19psi and only ran to just over 5k. will be running 24-25psi this day maybe even a touch more :agree:

really happy with the car atm especially after saturdays dyno results of 230bhp and 213lb/ft @24psi on a very rich carb.

so plan is to now whip the carb off and sort the fuelling ideally i want it around 11.5/11.7 afr on full boost then it gives me a bit of a safe happy medium :)

also received my big jim racing downpipe cant wait to get this fitted along with a full 2.5" system over winter :agree:

Anyway andy wot changes you making to yours over winter?

BluntyR5GTT
30-10-2011, 09:25
as iv posted a few posts previously got fit this bjr downpipe/elbow and then having a full 2.5" system made to fit it. also going to be fitting some group a exhaust valves into the head and then obviously sorting the fuelling out. am hoping to see around 240-245bhp at the same 24psi as i run now then were going run around 28-30psi for 1/4 mile runs etc.

the main thing is going to sort all the bodywork out will be doing all the prep work myself and with help of a mate :agree: then take it to be sprayed. Im looking at getting my cobra bucket seats re trimmed in the style of the o.e seats failing that they will be done black with a bit of red trim.

Andyturbo!

bit of a boring update compared to normal but just had my insurance renewal through off footman james at £393 (classic policy) was £324 last year, i then noticed that my policy states 6000 miles which is way too many.
So i called them up stated i wanted to change that to 3000 miles and i couldnt believe the difference £204.42.
Im absolutely over the moon i even rang around a few other companies eg graham sykes and hic, sykes wanted £363 and hic £406

gotta love classic policies

Dave Reed
02-11-2011, 17:18
I didn't think footman insured cars with more than 20% power increase.. The only one I can get insured with is adrain flux :(

BluntyR5GTT
13-11-2011, 06:25
got an update for you all iv just invested in mappable ignition (megajolt) got all i require for £261 this is being fitted and mapped by chris (scoff) over winter and will finally get rid of the bloody pants aei unit. boost will be set at 25-26psi really looking forward to comparing the before and after results

Jimmy_GTT
13-11-2011, 07:53
Your results are very impressive!
Congratulation.

After many many delay I was also able to measure my car with a G meter (AP22).
Result is 183Hp @ wheel, which is about 215Hp. Pressure is 21psi.

I'm really interested how much will you gain with the mappable ignition.
I'm using megasquirt both for ignition and for injection.

BluntyR5GTT
13-11-2011, 08:23
thanks fella will certainly be interesting to see the difference thats for sure

what is this g meter that you speak of? have you finally fitted that t25.49 i had you built ?

Jimmy_GTT
13-11-2011, 09:29
thanks fella will certainly be interesting to see the difference thats for sure

what is this g meter that you speak of? have you finally fitted that t25.49 i had you built ?

Yes mate, it is with the T25 you have helped me to bought.

AP22 is a G-force meter
http://www.race-technology.com/specification_2_84.html
You fix it in your car and make a drag run. It measures the G-force and time.
From that values speed, acceleration and even power can be calculated.
(for power you have to set the Cv and the weight of the car)

I have this unit for 3 years now and I can make measurements after each modification to see how it has effected the car.

BluntyR5GTT
13-11-2011, 09:41
ah right i had a felling it was something like that, would be good to see your car ran on a proper dyno like dyno dynamics or even a hub dyno like what i use.

glad that turbo is doing the business for you they make a great turbo on the gtt. iv in fact got 2 more orders for the same spec

BluntyR5GTT
07-12-2011, 04:51
well guys my car is now down the drive and parked up for winter, just need to wash it and get the breathable/waterproof cover over it.
If any of you are mates with me over on facebook then you might know that my back is in a state again so i couldnt even move my car. So big thanks to my bro for taking it for a spin and bringing it down the drive for me.
Any work that needs be done can now be done in the safety of my drive also going look at getting the car into a local bodyshop to freshen up certain areas of the car :)

Andyturbo!
07-12-2011, 05:43
Alright andy, Soz to hear about your back, get well soon buddy!:). Nice one all tucked up for the winter, just how it should be. Ive bin and looked at a couple of 5s recently and going to look at one on sat all bin well from a member on here so ya never know I might have a project thread up soon :agree:. Wot ya getting done bodywise then mate?

BluntyR5GTT
07-12-2011, 06:05
which one off here are you going to look at matey? iv seen that nice pearl white one up for sale.
yeah my back is driving me insane mate cant do bloody anything feel useless :( hardly getting any sleep hence me posting on here at silly o clock.

bodywork wise iv got a different bonnet and drivers door to fit and paint plus a different set of morettes to fit and paint. then there is a couple of bits around windscreen and a bit on the roof plus the drivers outer sill is bubbling up a little bit so will get that sorted at same time.
going to relocate the battery to boot and if the engine comes out for any reason i will tidy the engine bay up myself

Andyturbo!
07-12-2011, 07:06
Wish it was the pearl White one! Lol bit outa my price range tho. Salty blade pm'd me to see if I was interested in his red one, seems solid from his progress thread and engine's bin refreshed recently, doesn't want alot for it too and it has 9month tax and test, think it wud be a great project. Think it just wants a respray so might get it dun if I buy it, get r lasses uncle to to do it. He has just sprayed his dodge dart and looks mint!. Have a look at salty blades thread if your bored let me know wot u think, he got it off another member on here but can't remember his name. Hope ya back on ur feet soon buddy

little bit of an update, going get out and fit the bjr downpipe/elbow on weds and also get the 1st stage put back to standard on my carb wont be driving the car after to test it though its its parked away for winter.
Been speaking to scoff and were looking at late march to get my megajolt fitted and mapped ill also have my new exhaust system made and fitted before this time

BluntyR5GTT
22-12-2011, 07:03
fitted the bjr downpipe and put the 1st stage back to standard on the carb yesterday, first job once i take my car out is to get the new 2.5" system made to fit the downpipe.

BluntyR5GTT
02-01-2012, 09:20
booking car in with longlife stockport to get the full 2.5" system fitted on 21st jan, will be a nice chance to give the car a bit of a drive as its not moved since mid december and ideal to check the fuelling since changing 1st stage back to standard on carb.

no probs fella ill be sure to update the thread and might even make a separate thread on the results of mappable ignition :)

anyway here is the stuff required off http://www.trigger-wheels.com/store/contents/en-uk/d59.html

You want:

Load sensor type: MAP sensor
EDIS Kit: 4 cylinder
Trigger wheel: None - I can do the light-weight wheel and C1J bracket/sensor combo
Coilpack bracket: Up to you, perhaps you can make your own, but for £17.50 you might as well buy one of theirs.
Harness kit: No
Spark plug leads: 4 cylinder
Crank sensor bracket: No
USB Adaptor: No, unless you need one and fancy being able to fiddle the ECU afterward
Tacho driver: No

That lot seems to come in at £261, plus P&P I guess.

Then you'll need the trigger wheel, C1J bracket and matching sensor which I do to members for £60.

the above was sent to me courtesy of scoff

off to longlife this saturday to get the new 2.5" system made and fitted, should be interesting to see the difference with the bjr dp/elbow and new system. Also will give me chance see how its fuelling since putting the 1st stage back to standard :)

Make sure they don't use any bit of your old system like a firm did with my old car, some places find it hard to make the flange which bolts to the downpipe so they used a section of my old Scorpion, lost me a few bhp:(

Be good to see pics of it when done though :agree:

21-01-2012, 05:48
well guys am off to longlife today so will have a few pics and vid later on for you all.

went out to my car last night re connected battery and it started on the 2nd turn was a bit groggy for 1-2 mins but totally fine from there on. Left it to warm up for another 5 mins then took it for a bit of a shakedown managed to glance at the fuelling and it seems better noticed around 11.3-11.4 on full boost, i never went above 4.5 k though so will have a proper check once this system is fitted.

BluntyR5GTT
21-01-2012, 10:23
At longlife now cant take any pics unfortunately as you aint allowed in the work area. Fount out my scorpion system was only 2" bore

Fuelling is defo sorted now around 11.4-11.5 wot. One thing for sure is i cant get grip in any gear once boost comes in whilst its wet

Black Light is pretty impressive. I bought some last year, along with some V7 sealant to go on the top, but haven't tried the V7 yet.

Let me know how you get on with the Butter Wax. That could be one of my next purchases. I REALLY like Chemical Guys stuff

BluntyR5GTT
23-01-2012, 18:17
brilliant fella, i opted against the V7 as im a bit old school and like a good wax :).

i defo let you know what the wax is like its meant be really good

The new Bill J
23-01-2012, 18:32
I'm the same, I much prefer a decent wax. I bought the V7 to use as a quick detailer/top up between waxes :smokin:

cant fault you in that sense matey, iv got some detailer here think its muc off stuff its really good.
wax wise iv been using either ag hd wax or dodo juice supernatural hybrid so will be good compare the cg butter wet wax to them

The new Bill J
23-01-2012, 18:40
My favourite wax is DoDo Blue Velvet. I've tried the standard SuperNatural, and tbh the Blue Velvet is MUCH better on my car. I'd like to try the AG HD stuff, as it's supposed to be impressive. I also fancy trying some of the Swissvax waxes as some point

BluntyR5GTT
23-01-2012, 18:44
i will be honest the ag hd wax is more durable than the dodo sn hybrid, and it seemed to have better beading qualities. its a very good wax for the money thats for sure.

iv not tried the blue velvet but i have heard its rather decent, swissvax do some great stuff, also check out autobrite

The new Bill J
23-01-2012, 18:50
Yea, I'd probably use the HD wax before a winter, for it's durability. I've never looked at any Autobrite stuff - I'll add it to the list :D

BluntyR5GTT
27-01-2012, 06:15

also iv invested in a set of oe headlights as morrettes just aint for me, so they are now for sale.
And just as a heads up opie oils have got a decent sale on atm i got 4 litres of castrol magnatec for £22 delivered, so hoping get the car sorted interior wise then do an oil/filter change and be back on the road end of march/early april. Will then be paying scoff at efi parts a visit to get this megajolt fitted and mapped

BluntyR5GTT

looks like any plans for more engine work etc will be on hold for quite a while, as we was underneath my car yesterday and its a bit of a mess, drivers sill is shot inner/outter loads of places on floor pan are gone/going and passenger sill is starting to go.
couple this with needing new drivers door and bonnet plus bits of tatty bodywork all over the car, then it is looking like a full restoration will be taking place.
Best thing is that justin has said he will help to strip the car bare and store my parts for me plus i can do alot of the prep work. Might not please people on here but the color is going to be changed to mg trophy blue as my old car was this color and it looks fantastic if kept nice.
bit gutted that my plans have to be put on hold and this is going to cost a small fortune but hey thats life and theres no way im giving up on my car because of a bit of rust

Markey Mark (BD)
25-03-2012, 16:41
Least you spotted the rust now before it gets too bad, best off doing that first as there's no point haivng a strong engine when the shell won't hold together ;)

Good idea on colour though the tungy colour has never been my favourite, my old 5 was Porsche colbolt blue so not too far off the shade you going for now. :agree:

BluntyR5GTT

BluntyR5GTT
01-04-2012, 12:46
bloody hell iv just one to tax my car online and to my horror fount out my car doesnt have an mot, i was sure id had it done so i looked through my paperwork and it ran out nov 19th. so i now have a car with no tax n.mot which leaves me in a position as it will fail so it looks like the car comes off the road now until next year :-(

BluntyR5GTT
08-04-2012, 10:10

must say this clubs members just keep excelling themselves over and over again :), had many people come forward with parts etc and as always mike at gt turbo spares more than helpful.

Now its gone a step further due to russ (steer from the rear) offering to help out with doing my sills and also any other bits of welding i need doing, plus hes going to paint my other bonnet and a new drivers door, all for an absolute bargain, so fingers crossed i might just make this years shows yet :)

thought i would update this thread as you know i very nearly sold my car a bit ago but its still with me looking sorry for itself and ill be honest i only ever half heartedly put it for sale.

so onto the updates, iv been in touch with haz via pm regarding him doing the work required on my car and he has given me a detailed description of what he will do and is going take plenty of pics for his portfolio and me :).

im going to strip as much of the car as i possibly can to help bring the work down for haz.
Just need to get a drivers outter door sill and drivers side door then ill have most the required bits, will get fuel pump bracket etc at national day from mike if hes there :)

iv also been speaking to markeymark (top fella) over on facebook regarding my clutch and he has pointed me in the right direction to get the 4 paddle friction plate which will handle the 220+lb/ft torque.

the yesmobile will live on in my hands and should look better than ever, who knows it might be ready for the rtoc rr day in sept

I was told the 4 paddle helix judders like crap, but 6 paddles are alot better. The omp one looks good 8 pads! I suppose thats the price you pay for modding a cars power level.

BluntyR5GTT
14-07-2012, 16:55
this is something i wont be able comment on until iv actually fitted it, maybe markeymark will see this and comment?

GTphil
14-07-2012, 17:02
I have an ap 4 plate paddle it did judder slightly at first but it's fine now, I think having the flywheel re-faced will go a long way to making the clutch engagement smooth with a paddle plate.

BluntyR5GTT

DaveMayGTT
14-07-2012, 21:38
MarkyMark fitted a green box cover with 4 paddle to a freshly refaced flywheel on mine recently with extended clutch release arm. Its nicer than using a full green box without extended release arm on the legs but it does judder at biting point, it likes it on or off.

BluntyR5GTT
26-01-2013, 07:56
been a very long time since this thread was updated so here goes

firstly as you might see my car is currently being restored to a very high standard and whilst at it were replacing any old/worn parts eg rear shocks were standard items replaced with apex, all bushes are being replaced with polybushes, going to uprate the brake discs to ds2500.

then the quest for more power begins, my turbo is being sent to my mate to get a billet comp wheel fitted, fuelling will be as close to bang on as we can get it then ill be installing the nodiz pro ignition unit and getting that mapped up at wgt. really looking forward to the outcome of the few additions and hoping to see another 10-20bhp if possible with quite a bit more torque especially in the low/mid revs.

am hoping the resto is finished before aprils rr day im not too fussed if the nodiz aint fitted by then as its not massively important and can be fitted/mapped anytime. will be interesting to see what improvements its made since adding 2.5" bore turbo back system, bjr downpipe and leaning the fuelling out a bit (11.4afr full boost, was 10.4afr last dyno run)
