so i was wondering what sort of power my car will make once its back on its feet?
last dyno day it did 230bhp and 213lb/ft @ 23psi but this was on a super rich set up only hitting 10.6afr on wot, also was still on 2" system and ktec downpipe.
Since then its had a bjr downpipe and full 2.5" bore system and fuelling leaned out to mid 11s, and now of course the bigger billet comp wheel fitted to turbo.
ill be honest and say anything over 230 and ill be happy but i will say it certainly felt alot more livlier when it got the new system and fuelling leaned out.

If you havent already used the noDiz as a way of keeping the kitchen table level it may be of use in getting those ponies to ride in time, what have ye done with it blunty? Flocked cards :pimp: are excllent.

Iv decided put nodiz on hold until end of the year when i give the engine a refresh. Big valves etc

Sounds like a plan, got to keep improving. Cars very quick now pal, the turbo is a monster and youve lost a ****load of timber down the gym! Might use that spare head max it and build a bolt on efi jobbie made up for next spring if I go on the game.

your not wrong pal should be very interesting to see the difference, will also be nice having a much more solid/planted car and with the addition of the apex rear shocks and full polybush kit it should be much tighter.
gym is going well lifting some serious weight now and getting some much needed weight off me with this calorie diet thing im on power to weight ftw

what 2.5 exhaust are you running? rough carb spec and jets, have you upped fuel pressure, if so what method?
BluntyR5GTT

hi james sorry iv only just seen your reply
its a bjr downpipe/elbow onto a full longlife system, really good quality and sounds fantastic.
carb spec is as follows
120 main
standard 1st stage
1.3mm 2nd stage
100 a/c
2mm needle valve
standard venturi
running standard fpr and uprated fuel pump.
i actually got the car up n running last weekend and set the idle and fuelling got it much better than it ever was before now idling at 14.2-14.5 which will do me, used to idle at 13.5-13.8. Will be taking it out for a good set up when i get it back from the paintshop
That spec just shows how different these lumps can be, my carb spec is
1.4second stage
.9 a/c
120 main
standard venturi
1.7 needle valve
rising rate fuel reg
efi pump
I'm at 12.1 afr @24psi it will fuel upto and beyond 7k, when my valve guides allow :wasntme:
My car hates the 2mm needle valve must be the slight increase in fuel pressure.
those are good numbers, your turbo is an awesome unit for the c1j tho, even before the billet wheel, my bet is with the bjr downpipe and the billet wheel your on for more than before for sure;)
BluntyR5GTT
05-05-2013, 10:31
your afr sounds pretty much bang on the limit, i did read about your valve guide misfortune good thing is you can easily sort it then its onwards and upwards :)
Couldnt agree more fella all cars differ and its for that reason i dont like seeing these generic maps put onto modern cars, much better off with a custom map.
It will be really interesting to see what it does and then again to see what gains it gets with the nodiz system when the engine gets a refresh at end of the year

Seen a t shirt that i think will be most fitting for me this summer
http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq4/bluntyn40/T2eC16Ry8E9s2fjK7BQ-svYViQg60_1_zpsefeb7022.jpg
Mine was different again
1.25 main
Standard 1st stage
1.4 second stage
0.9 a/c
2mm needle
Cold only run 18psi
Final set up binned the 2mm needle back to 1.7mm and fitted an adjustable reg fueled for up to 24psi.but was ruff off boost.
I guess theres so much that hasn't been changed/cleaned on our cars over the years that leads to these differences.
Regulator, fuel lines, fuel pick up in the tank and fuel pump wiring just to think of a few.

its mad how different they respond you would of thought your set up would of been fine to fuel well over 20psi. just goes to show how vital it is to have a good afr kit so you can see whats going on fuelling wise.
couldnt agree more on the points you made there matey :agree:
Tony Walker
05-05-2013, 19:31
Its difficult to say fuel for said pressure........... as 18 psi could be a completely different amount of air flow on one engine to another.
It should be what size jets for 180hp 200hp 210hp 220hp..........
BluntyR5GTT
08-05-2013, 18:10
that could be interesting tony, what is your carb spec at 200bhp fella?
on another note ill be getting as much use out of my car this summer once the resto is finished in a few weeks. Then im going to give the engine a bit of a refresh and uprate a few bits whilst at it over the winter
going to go for new pistons/liners and alloy rad with mocal oil cooler. will also check all other pumps etc etc
try source a good height head which can be sent to cnc heads to be ported and have enlarged valves fitted.
fit and map the nodiz pro ignition unit which im really looking forward to as iv heard nothing but good reports on mappable ignition.
also ill be getting my exhaust manifold/downpipe/elbow and turbo exhaust housing ceramic coated by zirotec

What's all this ceramic business all about then? We must drive our better half mad with these cars, there's always something to do to them.

i will say this though my lady is an absolute star when it comes to me and my car she has never once moaned at me, as she knows the r5 is my big passion
