IMO i wouldent bother, the "uprated" starters are no better than the OE ones. Alot of people have had them pack up when exposed to heat from the exhaust downpipe. Get yourself a new valeo ( or similar) on there :)

i find neither last with no heat shield and more boost and larger turbos.. wrap the down pipe and make sure you have one or make something to keep it out of harms way..

my 5 is the only car i ever had a starter go and not just one, im sure its 3 or 4..

I found I can use an F7R one on my F4R Turbo, used that and an F7P one.

Also, in my opinion...extra earths help the starter motor.

Might also be worth considering the little enhancement Ian S has written up about in the article section for the starter motor :)

also dont forget the little bracket on the end of the starter that bolts it to the back of the block. Acts as a much better earth for the motor rather than having to earth through an aluminium gearbox :)

one thing i've found, and this may be of use..

the GSF uprated starter, listed for the GTT has one too many teeth....

interesting, i thought that was just a support bracket...never had one fitted before but then ive never had starter motor issues :D

Don't kow what they are new, I picked refurbed one for £30.

Much better than the £200+ for the f4r t one.
