    Re: The search feature

The minimum number of charachters in the text search is 4, so "EFI" won't work as you've discovered. It is set to 4 so that the site doesn't index the 10000's of 3 letter words that apear in every post. Setting it to 3 would slow the search feature and increase the already very big forum database. Sorry

    Re: The search feature

is it possible to add exceptions to the 4 letter rule? There are quite a few useful ones:

    T2
    T25
    T28
    T3
    LSD
    EFI
    AFR
    TIP/EBP
    MAP
    etc....

Oh, Kendo, have you tried standing on a box? My PC has never told me that I'm too short

    Re: The search feature

Even if you type in 'T25 Turbo' it still won't search for posts with ALL of these words in it. Instead it searches for these words separately which is pretty useless.

Nope, still only searches for individual words.

    Re: The search feature

try "t25 turbo" it works for me

what that does is find t25 and turbo together, but dont know what the exeptions are

maybe if they changed the settings if there is any, to allow " " or + to specificly ask for t25 and turbro to lie next to each other in that order to become a match

    Re: The search feature

T25 turbo won't work in the search feature because T25 has only 3 charachters. Any 2 words with 4 or more charachters work fine.

I can't make exceptions to the search words sadly, the software isn't clever enough. I agree it's a pain in the ass, I will try dropping the minimum length down to 3, I think it will slow the search quite a lot though.

give it a go, if its to slow then change it back, no harm done!

    Re: The search feature

Ok, I've made the changes, but for the site to be able to search posts made before today I will have to rebuild the search index. That's a bit of a mission, I'll do it in the next few days.
