Do you think 450hp is a little to high to state? ok awsome car etc etc hands down to the guy but 450 seems a bit high for 130mph??? mind you its spinning all way down too..

Defo a 10s car there. 1.9 60ft he did, bring that to a 1.6 sit nicely in a 10 there....

1.97, call it 2.0 60', so easilly knock 0.3sec off the ET with better traction. 450hp seems a bit ott, 400hp+ though to make 131mph.

How come scoff? At the end of the day unless he knows something we dont in terms of tuning the cij, i think some one needs to have a crack at it!

Thats just it, he does, no question about it! That engine is the result of countless hours trial and error, I don't know a single person that is prepared to put the effort in that those guys have done. You need to meet them, see their setup to know what I mean. He tells me he's been tuning that car for 20yrs. Not really a case of having a crack mate, it's a case of devoting all of your time and effort to an 8v ohv until you've got it to do what you wanted it to. Don't hold your breath, that trap won't be beaten for a while !!

    Wow!!!!! Awesome stuff.

Crikey, got something to aim at now lol (what do ya reckon scoff??)

Mucho congrats to Gianni, fantastic run. Scoff, not sure if you have found it but i have ran higher traps (max 125) but at much lower ET's. I have used the theory of reducing 60ft times or increasing power etc and it seemingly doesnt work out like it should. At York i find i can run 123-125 traps no prob but have only ever managed 2 11.4's and they were at 120 and 121.

Can't wait for the 29th..................scarily since fitting the nos i too have clutch issues even though i now run twin 7 1/2 inch rally copper solid 6 mm plates with ally cover

Defo praying for good weather at the end of the month.......doo or die for my little red 5 i reckon (well at least do or die for my wallet lol)

well done with the 125mph's stu, I didn't know your the only person that's anywhere near that level with a c1j. I suspect gianni's secret might be good exhaust breathing, large exhaust valves, nice manifold and so on. something is certainly helping that gas to work very well.

    cheers
you could well be right, in my experience working with just 1397cc i have had to keep the gases flowing as fast as poss and have therefore retained moderate exhaust mods and kept the original valves turbine sizing i believe is the key for me and making sure it compliments the cam profile...

ps i have managed a 123.9 at pod the last time i ran but that put in a 11.5......
due to having more track time i am going to try and lean out on the fuel side of the nos as it is running very rich as i have been playing it safe and me not be getting the max out of the nos at the mo?

yep fantastic time by Gianni I always new that car would be very quick at pod......... Sounds like he is only in 4th at the end of that run?? mind if he's revving to 8k I guess it would do it? I no I have to use all 5 gears in mine and that's just to get a 122 mph trap lol.

O well can only but try on the 29th lol

Gianni has two foggers on his car, i believe he was spraying around 120hp of nitrous. You can hear a system come on when he hits 2nd gear, because it starts spinning the wheels.

Thats my arse hanging out of the mini in the return road, I think we should raise some funds to get Gianni over to run some 10's.
I did tell the team about the end of month gathering.

Re: Santa pod 9/5/09, well done gianni santi

Cool, i am running a full wet 4x injector system with just 25 bhp jets so the system can easily handle more gas, the question is whether the rest of it can!?!
I have trapped at 125 but with poorer et's with nos, this is possibly highlighting some possible over fuelling at some point through the rev range and as i use 3 gears for 123 need a good curve of useable power. If the gearbox and shafts can take a more fierce launch and i can lean out the nos a bit in theory i could go quicker, i am seeing 101 at the 1/8 so feel slotting 4th with a tad more nos might do the trick?
What am i thinking, i have been trying to crack the 10's since i did the 11.4 back in 2005.........................
Oh well, here goes....i am going to throw everything at it for the 29th, be great if Gianni is there, would love a head to head with scoff again and defo against gianni, may the most reliable man win lol

If Gianni makes the effort to come over, and given how much his/his car's appearance would help boost interest on the day, it wouldn't be a bad idea for the club to give him a freebie entry/run ticket, imho.

Has anyone (from the Committee) contacted Gianni to see if he would be interested?

Stu Clark, Scoff, Gianni all gunning for that first elusive 10sec' pass is somewhat of a mouthwatering prospect, and for it to happen at an RTOC event...!

Just need to kick Andy Cooke's ass out of 1/4 mile retirement now...

Im 100% sure they wont be over, the drive is way to long for them.Plus they save the car and engine for 'King of Europe' events.

We offered to let them keep the motorhome and trailor at our yard (20mins) from santa pod but they just wanted to get everything home.

Maybe next year we can sort an event which they could make.

Stuart, i have a very nice nitrous programme on my laptop which makes the nitrous tuning easyer, I'm using 28hp through 1 fogger with a N/F ratio of 6.7 Could it be any use for you on the day to put your figures in?

I will have the jet drills to hand!!!

lol, I'll be happy with 14s with that I wonder how deep into the 90s it'll go, if at all.

Apparently the 5 manifold has been repaired, it's been kicking around under various benches for a couple of years. I might put the engine back together when it gets here.

I hit 13.9@102 last year, was totally ecstatic i hit the 13s, albeit .9 i couldn't believe i cracked into it. Maybe not a big feat in some peoples eyes as 12s seemed so the norm but for me it meant a lot

no, I'm not looking to increase power, just the power band and driveability. I know what to do to put it in the 10's (bigger turbo, 2 bar boost), but the engine won't be suitable for hillclimbing. If I run again at the pod it won't be on drag tyres, so don't expect it to run better than a 12.

Andrew, you cant dangle the carrot with words like that and then say its not going to happen!! I know drag racing aint your bag but if you have the knowledge and the kit to get that thing into the 10's then DO IT!!!

those slicks are such tarts Got them off Scoff then?

They won't go over my new brakes, I'd need 15s, plus I don't want to risk my new gearbox, it was a bit expensive...

should do, I had to limit boost in 1st (dumping the clutch at 6500rpm), but in 2nd gear they took the lot
