    Engine Bay Cleaning

My bay is covered in grime and dirt and was wondering if anyone out there could make a recommendation for effective clening fluid? Im trying to avoid getting it steam cleaned tbh. That idea has always bothered me for some reason!? Water/engine/electrics etc.

Ive got a range of toothbrushes at the ready so be good to hear your thoughts guys.

im assuming the engines still in?thats why you dont want to steam clean!

id say something like cilit bang or gunk. ive used white spirit and works good. just dont apply to hoses/wires etc.

Autoglym engine and machine cleaner, smells like a pansy fluid, but there is something in it which really breaks down grease and oil, agitate with a brush on the really nasty stuff, rinse off job done, whilst it's still wet cover the whole lot with vinyl and rubber care from the same company and it keeps everything shiney and clean

You know when someone fills up, and creates a petrol diesel mix, well it is usefull for something.

When i have to sort out customers at work they obviously dont want the petrol diesel mix, it works wonders for cleaning the engine bay

this was the way i went in the end! the spark plug cleaning brush was the best £2 ive spent in a while! Perfect for loosening most of the ****e off pretty much everything under the hood

What needed more patience today was removing paint spots off every panel bar the boot lid. some kn0b jockey had obviously painted something near the car. the tiniest spots but once youve seen one . . . . . . . took fookin ages

top darts! I can thoroughly recommend a spark plug cleaning brush. same size as your toothbrush but with soft wire bristles. Will remove grot off your engine metal work/carb base/nuts/bolts/jubilee clips you name it really. Will work MUCH better than your toothbrush
