Or genuine Renault 1 is £365+ vat
All depends what you want really. £365 isn't cheap, but you know it's going to work. Like anything reconditioned- you occasionally get a bad one.

In my experience- unless you know the item to be perfect and of good quality then don't fit it. I've been bitten in the ass many times with "recon" spares. I call them spray and pray spares.

My advice- genuine if you can.

    Re: Tungy- glacier white restoration

Help needed again.......Checked my oil pressure today to find only 2 bar oil pressure when cold at 4000rpm so not very good at all . Turning out to be a never ending project. Gonna have to get the sump off this weekend and have a look at the oil pump. Could anything else cause low oil pressure? Bit worried as it has had a bottom end engine rebuild costing £500 and new valves etc. When I blow through the banjo bolt hole in the block I get no pressure build up. You can hear the air blowing out the filler cap/ breather system. Could it be the oil pressure valve stuck open in the pump? or something else. The last thing I want to do is buy a new pump and find it has something else causing it

Honestly Martyn, don't you think that _how_or _why_ this was sorted would be the
_most_ useful information for anyone reading this thread? So often, I read of things being
solved but no explanation of the how and / or why.

Sorry, but isn't that a point of having a forum in the first place..? Rant over...

    Thanks jonny5

For those who don't know the oil pressure problem was due to some num nut not building the engine properly and fitted the wrong size main bearing shells. Caused me a lot of problems.

Excuse me, but I have quoted two fully consecutive thread postings. How am I, or anyone
else, to know that the answer is in a totally different thread? Not everyone consumes all
that there is to read on here, and why would we?

I stand by my original post! This isn't the first time I've come across this kind of labyrinthian

    Re: Tungy- glacier white restoration

Some more work done on 5 today. Fitted exhaust system, front bumper, fog lights, compensator valve, Bled the brakes 3 times but pedal is still a bit spongy, Red carpet and front seats fitted. Took it down the road today and done 10 miles in it with no major problems.
Got slight exhaust blow from down pipe area and need to re bleed brakes again. It did seem a little slow as if not getting full boost so need to have that looked at. But overall very pleased with how this weekend has gone ( Had 5 forward gears and 1 reverse, both fans cut in as they should and no major leaks, Got home without being towed home )

Fantastic, looks the absolute lick! Well worth your recent efforts Martyn

Go on, treat us to a 'to-do' list telling us what the 2% consists of

Get those rear seat belts tucked into the holding slots, some tyre dressing on, tow-eye cover sorted, speaker grille bonded on, plastic battery cover, suspension turret cap for the off-side.....so close now

It's a shame John didn't get to complete it after all the hard work, so close. But that's been finished beautifully with the attention to detail a credit, lovely.

It is a shame he didn't finish the project he started many years ago. it's never nice having to give something up only half done but it still needed a lot of money chucked at it and I think I've spent 70 hrs + getting it to this stage. (would hate to think how many hrs John put into it)

The problem with projects if you loose interest it never gets finished or if you run out of money it doesn't get finished and I think that's where John was with it.

Has been hard work but I've never lost interest even when everything was going wrong.

I've tried to keep the standard as best as I could and think it's looking good.

All I need now is a few sunny days so I can use it.

Will meet up with you Julian soon if you want as your just down the road from me. Will be good to put the two 5's together

    Re: Tungy- glacier white restoration

Lovely project Martyn, I too know how these projects can take a 'little while', although I'm just trying to make mine go quickly round corners!

Interesting to read about your Oil Pressure issue. I currently have an issue that I'm trying to resolve and fear that a bottom end rebuild may be on the cards?

A quick point on the bottom end rebuild. I bought some main journal bearing shells (Vandervell) and they had the correct P/N on the box, but the wrong size in the box! In my case mine were too small so I knew straight away when the crank wouldn't fit!

Clearance checks should still be done twice after fitment to confirm everything is as it should be, so it doesn't really make any excuses for the poor quality of the rebuild?

Keep up the good work mate, the car is looking fantastic!

    Woz

Putting my fully restored completely standard car in mint condition up for sale

No expence has been spared with the rebuild with the finest of detail taken place. ( I'd hate to think how much money and how many man hours has gone into this)
The reason I'm putting it up for sale is I really could do with the space and need a car I can use daily and not worry about it getting damaged wet or dirty.
For more information you can call me on 07789431252 or email me on martynpetrie73@yahoo.co.uk. ( I may not reply to emails instantly as I do work during the day)

Hi Everyone, It`s John here the guy that started this project and put blood sweat and tears into it before I reluctantly had to sell it 80% finished!

Martyn if I had the money I would buy it back! I often think back to the hours and hours of painstaking restoration I put into that little car. Great to see it finished though! I`ve made a point of not looking on RTOC because it upset me seeing the pictures of my old car!

Congrats to however buys the car, you will NOT be disappointed!!!!

    Regards

    John
