    trade insurance

Guys its time to renew the gt, quotes of £370 coming in, i pay about £300 for my daily and i also fancy a bike this summer, quotes from £350 or £600 for the bike i really want.

My partner also has her own car and pays about £400.

I have read through a few threads on here and think maybe this might be a better option especially since i have a car wash a valeting business to.

My only concerns are, can i put my partner on the policy and at what sort of cost, are motorbikes generally covered but most of all how are you paid out in a total loss.

I worried as i have spent close to 11k building my gt and currently have a guaranteed valuation of 6K the last think i want is to have someone stuff it and get offered £1k.

Any help guys or recommended brokers

Be carefully as most trade policy will only cover vehicles over 20 years old third party only.

    Re: trade insurance

I have just spoken to a guy at a trade insurance brokers, i dont think im going to bother, like you said Mike, getting the gt covered will probably mean having it third party only and bikes are normally an extra.

All i would have to gain is i could collect and deliver my customers cars to and from my business.

Its a right bitch, i drive about 4000 miles a year, im nearly 40 and going to be looking over £1000 to insure the 2 cars and a bike, plus my partners car to

    Re: trade insurance

mine is a grand, up for renewal next month so i'm a bit worried about what its gonna be....

last year i could have put bikes on for £250 extra but i hadn't held my bike licence long enough, this year my bike insurance was £160 and includes other bikes and as i only own one its not really an issue

i'm with GSI southern, i pay a little more to get cover on old cars and modified ones

    Re: trade insurance

I was getting quotes of between £750 & £1500 depending on what I wanted to cover (imports, older vehicles etc.)
Like you Phil I didn't bother, but with my van insurance now being £750+ on it's own I may look into it again.

This...you will only get trade price if you need to claim too. Keep your gtt on a specialised classic policy matey imo, trade is good for anything else though
