Yep. Good to see a Macca 1-2, and fitting for Lewis to have at least one thing over Vettel this season (number of poles).

Seems to be endless talk of rain for the race, so should make for a great finalé to the championship. I think EJ may well be right, but lady luck will have the last say...or Bernie's little black box of interventions will

    Re: F1

I'd love Lewis to win, schui second but right up Hamilton's ringer, Kimi third alonso fourth and vetel out with blown engine.....

I'm sure Berni won't have this though....

Should be interesting race, just getting the Sunday roast all sorted before it starts

    Re: F1

    Another disparate F1 thread, great!

"Lewis to win, Schui second, Kimi third, Alonso fourth, and Vettel out with a blown engine."

I'd go with this except with Jenson in 2nd instead of Schui. I think that would be enough for Alonso to win (meaning Vettel loses, which is what I'm after), but not have the bloke on the podium.

Anybody taken a look into this vettel overtaking on yellow flags saga? Turns out Ferrari are looking into this, which could see vettel loose his title as he would inherit a 20sec penalty.

Yep, technically Ferrari don't have to complain, the FIA are aware of the incident now so it's upto them what they do....

The video looks like vettel overtook under yellow flags... If that's the case he broke the rules.... Simples

There were two dubious overtakes, the Kobayashi one looks legit but the Vergne one is now under question.

    Re: F1

Looks like there is a flashing yellow light on the right hand side of the track as he starts his move, before the waved green flag on the left hand side further down. Since he hadn't yet gone past the green flag when he started the move, the flashing yellow light is in session afaik.

    Re: F1

He did definitely overtake under yellows, therefore he should have been penailised as per normal rules. This wasn't picked up during the race so whether or not they'll look at it at this stage (with a view to penalising him) I don't know? It would be a crap way to have the title decided.

    This should be interesting.....

    Re: F1

If you look at the numerous clips doing the rounds on YT, there is a green flag being waved after the 'yellow' section, albeit it's a hundred yards or so before the green flashing light at the side of the track - Vettel obviously saw said green flag, hence went for the over-take even though it was before he was level with the track-side green light.

His steering wheel lights were still showing yellow (and were briefly still illuminated even after passing the green track-side light), but the rules dictate that flags take priority over what the wheel lights are showing (they are but for indication only anyway), hence Vettel's move was a legal one.

The incident was at turn 3, the marshall in question was at the next section, the track ahead was clear, so no reason why he shouldn't have shown the green flag.

Typical Ferrari/Alonso sour grapes I didn't think teams could appeal after the official race classification anyway?

That's my take on it, and I'll probably end up being wrong, so congratulations Alonso

    Re: F1

I can't see how it can be sour grapes if in their opinion they think that someone has broken the rules. If Alonso had in theory done the same thing I'm pretty sure Red Bull would be on it like a rash, you do everything in your power to make sure you win, regardless. You Only have to look at Schumacher and even Senna to see that to win a race or even the title they did whatever necessary.

The only driver I've heard throwing toys out the pram is Vettel,on the team radio bitching about Alonso's overtake. He likes to be up front, on pole, fastest lap. Throw him at the back and midfield and he's a different person. IMO Alonso is THE complete driver.

I never really digged alonso, as I thought he was arrogant during his spell with mclaren, slowley starting to believe that may have been more Hamilton!?!? But alonso's a very good driver ! If Ferrari can carry this years reliability onto next I think he could be WC.
