Good progress today, it runs (only NA tho) ..... all sounds spot on so happy with the build so far.. Clutch feels rather brutal but should be ok, we even fitted are new wheels and sorted our ride height out . Will get pics up soon......

Re: The New Backyard D16 Project

Slight update. Havent done much recently and the cars been running now for a couple weeks and all going well which is good so today we decided to mock the cooler up and decide what to do about pipe runs so we can order more parts this next week to complete this area of the build. For this we stole the cooler from my clio which is the THS004. You may notice that now the turbo is facing the other way round, we did this as we feel the pipe work will be better and the downpipe a cleaner run. We going to run the car with open downpipe we not to fussed about an exhaust.. (yet)

Not a great deal since xmas, we have welded up some rot spots thats about it.. Its all running N/A and engines fine.. We have had a few issues with ordering parts and shipping costs from US but we back on the case to get these parts over to us.. Need to yet get the hondata installed and get some injectors, same again we a bit here and there what to use but prob go for the RC750cc.. I have a feeling the cars first outing will end up being RTOC day at pod...

Re: The New Backyard D16 Project

Ive been holding back raj, we made a downpipe up and cooler up from odd pipes etc and sorted some adaptors for oil feed, and a fuel pump thats about it, cars sat ready to go, just awaiting injectors and ecu. lack of funds are stopping us but end of month parts should be on there way... we going for the 750cc RC injectors anyway.. Its about half days work on car and we on road mapping...

Re: The New Backyard D16 Project

Few pics here, we changed the design on downpipe to go under the car rather than N/S wing so flipped turbo round. This also helps out our boost run and screamer and also oil feeds to route alot better.... Will update once we mapping, cars running with turbo but not on hondata as of yet...

Im unsure mate, the turbo will hold us back firstly, its only a small 44trim, but i know it can trap at 120mph with that unit in place. The pistons+rods+ sleeves etc are good for big hp.... the head and cam will also hold us back but we are planning to change all these over the year if funds let us.... I think we would be very chuffed to trap over 110 on first outing.....

Re: The New Backyard D16 Project

Bin the wheel trims and can rims black, few turns on coils and looks miles better.. We going to leave full trim in the car so we can all pile in and drive 170miles to pod and back with drag wheels and 24pk in boot the days of the A-frame are over for now..

I cant really tell how fast the car is as 5psi isnt much boost at all so doesnt really haul arse.. should be sorting the ecu out this week and get the 4 bar map sensor, 750s, and yet to make a sidy. running a std exhaust at mo

    cheers for the comments guys...

Well CPL said the ECU will be back with us tomorrow along with the 750s so late night mapping this weekend and getting use to the new software.... Timing it nicely for our first outing... see how our build will cope with over 20psi to get the ball rolling..

Do you have some sort of cold air box for the inlet? That dump tube looks awful close to the inlet.

    Its like xmas,

Are yes that waste pipe has been changed, cut and re welded, not on them pics so points away and to floor.. we do need a cold feed really as we have a gay £5 mushroom at mo just to get us going with no tangles in turbo.. we have the idea tho of using a second hand headlight and make a duct from this if you get me... unsure tho for road testing yet?

Balls just thought need to make a cocking sidy... mmmmmmm open downpipe bit to loud for the road... cock new summet was missing....

    always one more job

you don't need a massive intake, 4"dia is probably fine for 1000hp, as long as the inlet is in clean air you won't gain by having anything bigger then the pipe behind it (plus a radius). An F1 intake is sized perfectly for the engine behind it.

Ye wont be a big silly intake, the idea was to take the glass out a light unit and bulb holder and run a duct pipe from this to turbo with no filter..

    Midnight Mapping Part1

Well up and running on the hondata and mapped to 10psi tonight , it feels pretty good, better than i thought, skipping and bouncing for grip in 2nd.. Hard to compare to a GT, seems like a GT at 18psi maybe? Still got the standard exhaust on yet really need to sort this out aswell...

The software seems friendly to use but yet to sort out the data logging etc but for first outing im pleased... Going to be some late nights coming up...
