This year is amazingly tight - I really don't know who's going to win tomorrow? Pirelli have done a fantastic job with the tyres.

going to be a very good race as have the other previous ones, red bulls do seem to have got some pace here.
Great Results , shame the race was a bit low sprited but thats bahrain imo
I think we have to assume by Monday that people have seen the race or at least know the result, otherwise we can never know when it's ok to talk about it
Damn that lucky swine Vettel.
Happy for Kimi and Lotus and also DiResta. Good finish to hold off the brat Alonso
Another dire engineering performance from McLaren between pit stops that are the worst in the pit lane atm and failing mechanics on the car. Gutted.
In fact maybe this should be the rule:
If you haven't managed to see the action within 12hrs of the BBC coverage ending (qually and then the race respectively), but still intend to catch up with it later on and don't what it spoilt, then don't view this thread until you have.
Obviously that means anyone discussing actual results should not reveal anything specific until 12hrs after the Beeb coverage has concluded.
That way we know when it's safe to post up here and chat about it.
An easier rule would be - don't read a thread about F1 if you don't want to know the results!
Great racing though isn't it this year, you literally have no idea who's going to get pole/win the race. 4 races - 4 different winners! I hope Schumacher gets a pole/race win this year
Unfortunately it comes up in the Live chat window, which is how a lot of people stay on top of the threads.
As Trev said, I think it would be a good idea to wait until after the BBC have shown their coverage, as a lot of people haven't got it on Sky, and I don't blame them!
This has to be the most topsy-turvy season that I can remember. I wouldn't know who to bet on, for a race, or the championship. It's great stuff
defo agree on this season its a 100 times better to watch than the previous few seasons, lets hope this continues
whos watching this weekends canadian gp then? dont think im spoiling anything by saying hamilton been quickest in both practice sessions which is seeming to be the norm this season quite often.
ill be watching the highlights as im away from home and dont have skyf1 here
I'm in
The McLarens desperately need a result this time round to stay with the pace. The Red Bull car isn't as good as the last couple of years but their team work is getting them up the grid and keeping them in contention. Lotus Renault are knocking on the door. Ferarri appear to have been lucky so far but Alonso always manages to do better than his car seems capable of. Merc look good at certain circuits although Schumacher's notorious good luck in his first career continues to be dominated by karma.
DiResta to Ferarri would be good.
You make some very good points there trev and i agree with them all tbh especially on the alonso front he is one great driver and is making ferrari look better than the car is for sure.
On a personal level, this is how I like the drivers...
In this order, I prefer anyone to win as long as it's not:
- Vettel - damn that finger
- Alonso - damn that long face and those stroppy tantrums
- Schumacher - it's far more interesting watching him struggle
And if given the choice, I'd have the following winners, in no particular order:
Button, Webber, Hamilton, (although he has shown himself up to be a nob at times) and Di Resta.
Must be a British thing (aside from Webber, who for an Aussie is a decent guy).
I'm quite neutral on the other drives and would be happy for any of them to come through tbh. Kimi makes me laugh.
so then heres the qualifying top ten
1 Sebastian Vettel Red Bull Racing-Renault 1:13.784
2 Lewis Hamilton McLaren-Mercedes 1:14.087
3 Fernando Alonso Ferrari 1:14.151
4 Mark Webber Red Bull Racing-Renault 1:14.346
5 Nico Rosberg Mercedes 1:14.411
6 Felipe Massa Ferrari 1:14.465
7 Romain Grosjean Lotus-Renault 1:14.645
8 Paul di Resta Force India-Mercedes 1:14.705
9 Michael Schumacher Mercedes 1:14.812
10 Jenson Button McLaren-Mercedes 1:15.182
not that much between 2-10 should be an interesting race thats for sure, was a shame maldonado went out as that lap time was looking good
well seeing as it all happened yesterday id of thought everyone would at least of known whats what for todays race.
now if id of posted it up on the same day then id offer an apology.
iv just finally watched yesterdays race, wont reveal anything on here until after tea time tonight as i think thats more than fair tbh.
Good race. Last 20 laps were ace watching
***SPOILER BELOW***
....Hamilton reel in Vettel, then Alonso and just blowing past. He was on it like Sonic and the good McLaren strategy call made watching the end very entertaining. Props to Grosjean too for caretaking his tyres enough to rinse Vettel and Alonso at the end and another good result for Sauber.
Seven GP, Seven different winners. I'd like to see a Lotus Renault take the next one, and then maybe Schumacher cos he's had some SHOCKING luck this year so far.
FFS.
I think from now on, any member looking at this thread AFTER the BBC transmission but BEFORE they themselves have seen it, can have no bloody complaint about the result being spoilt.
Just stay away from this thread until after you have watched the programme, just like you have to stay away from the news and Sports websites.
I thought it was a cracking race. Come on Lewis. 7th different winner in the first 7 races, 5 of which are former world champions, it's quite amazing. The top four drivers split by 10 points in the overall champs now.
My only disappointment was that Webber finished behind Alonso and Vettel and that Button struggled all weekend once more.
Schumacher - 5 DNFs in 7 races. He's paying it all back atm!!
once again another race and another winner, happy for hamilton as i think hes deserved more than one win this season (thought the old pit curse was going strike again though)
button seemed never to be in this all weekend and will put it behind him ready for the next race im sure, was great to see grosjean finish 2nd and perez 3rd, 3 young guns so to speak on the podium can only be good for the sport.
i must add i thought alonso was great again just a shane ferrari got the tactics wrong.
onto valencia 22-24 june

Well that's simple. Don't use the live screen, or at least don't use it on GP weekends.
Tomorrow's lesson - dummy sucking
In all seriousness, I never use the Live screen on RTOC and I don't miss out on anything that's posted. Yes I know some members love it but avoiding its use in that short time between GP transmission and members catching up on the result, is hardly a bind.
i actually had a thought last night regarding the forum, on a few other forums they have a section dedicated to motorsport maybe it would be a good idea to have one entered on here? and somehow disable posts from showing up in the live section? that would then avoid any problems and leave us free to discuss as and when we want.
Yeah but that would mean making some changes to the RTOC website, which is more difficult to achieve than world peace
would be good if we could do it though
whos watching the european gp today then people? ill certainly be watching it. id imagine you all know the results from yesterday?
Massive Button fan but now beginning to get a little fed up of the same excuses week after week and also due to it's lack of many appearances this season I'd for gotten how f**king irritating that raised finger is..................
Would you believe it, I had £10 on Vettel to win and also £3 on Grosjean Never mind!
Really good race yesterday and good to see Schumacher back on the podium
Hamilton should have let Maldonado past, he was never going to hold the position, his rear tyres were utterly shot. 10pts is better than nought, worth 20pts when Vettel misses out completely like he did.
No wonder Alonso was ecstatic, especially with Webber and Button failing to capitalise fully either.
Still, another fantastic race and we nearly had yet another new race winner in Grosean!
Someone on the Renault alternator production line has been handed a P45 this morning
Best Valencia race since it began, imho. Tricky one to call on the Hamilton/Maldonado scenario - Yes, Lewis's tyres were shot & he was inevitably going to get overtaken, hence should've left the door open a bit, but then Pastor was off the circuit, so should've held back/skit across the corner/made sure it was clear instead of getting back on track post-haste & resultantly T-boning Lewis.
Lewis lost out the most there though, and that move (read loss of points) may well come back to haunt him at the end of the season.
Great to see Schum'y back on the podium. He's had terrible luck this year, and rightfully deserves some of the good times again.
Absolutely, the incident was Maldonado's fault entirely IMO too.
Some may argue that Lewis wouldn't have been in that situation if McLaren hadn't fecked up yet another pitstop
It could've, and probably would've, been him on the podium top step...
Maldonado has been given a penalty.....
So true Mart. I was shouting at the telly when it happened. I'm sorry to say the team's performance in the pit has really hindered Lewis's progress this year thus far. Almost every race there is a different issue.
I'd be straight back to Halfords with those jacks
i take it all us f1 fans will be watching the british gp over the weekend? weather is going make it very interesting thats for sure
Shades of 2000 all over again. They never learn...
quite possibly about the parking situation?
Water-logged parking fields & campsites, cars stuck in mud, traffic chaos everywhere near to the circuit, turning people away after queueing for several hours, and now advising people not to even bother turning up for today's qual'y.
Pretty much what happened in y2k.
Dear me. The rain has been quite astonishing but why don't they have tarmac car parks in all cases Probably some rental deal with local farmers.
I think people have to remember that almost none of our circuits were/are purpose built, they are mostly converted second world war airfields and as such are plonked in the middle of greenfields. Imagine the uproar if that lot was concreted over just for one or two weekends a year.
A side note(F1 related) the female Marrusia test driver seriously injured this week
i wonder if thats why they were wanting to convert donington ? but we all now how that ended
Well to an extent but my main point was that are there any that are or would be prepared to or even allowed to get "fit for purpose" so we either need to get used to this happening every so often (though fairly rarely) or not having a GP in the UK. And btw i've never been certain that that horrid little man has ever made a decision for the good of the sport, he has a greater motivation.
breaks my heart to see silverstone butchered, much prefer the old track, flat out through bridge hearing the cars on full chat was immense!
