Been making a bit of progress this week, failry slowly but I've been collecting all the bits required to build my new engine.
I havent looked at the bank balance this week but its taken a hammering, heres some of the bits I've been buying...
Steel Rods - ARP Bolts, Mains, Head stud kit and big rod bolts.
Wossner Pistons
Tial Wastegate
Loads of new bits from Reno:
Head gasket kit..
Timing Belt
Bearing Set
And a few bits I've made:
Flywheel Spacer
VW Gearbox Adaptor Plate.
Engine and box mated together.
Engine and box mounted to subframe
So over the next few days it should all be put together and dropped in.
Awesome marrow. Hope it all goes together well!
Ashy Looking good, very impressive
Have you mated the renault and VW driveshafts or had custom shafts made?
Engine and box in position to measure up for the engine mounts...
No mate, decided to fit a stronger box (VAG 02J from a Cupra 1.8T) whilst I was on. Hence the need to make up mounts.
So, thought I'd update the thread with a few pics...
This weekend I wanted to get the engine mounts sorted, so i took a quick visit to the scrapyard firstly for ideas on how other cars do it and secondly to leave with a few new mounts to play with.
Had a good rake around and came away with a couple of different mounts that I thought I could modify to fit.
Heres some pics.
Bracket to mount the side gearbox mount onto the chassis leg.
Side mount in place and front gearbox mount tacked up.
All welded up and you can see the rear gearbox mount in this shot also.
Now they just need tidying up and powder coating and we are done. Just the engine to build then!
that is fantastic and makes me very jealous! keep it up and all the luck in the world for the engine!
