Re: GTA project engine
haha+ not tellin' lol, how did I know that pic would end up on here
I'll write it up properly soon, I was going to do a thread for mid-range turbos, 350-500hp, and throw out some of what I've been looking at and see other members ideas and input.
The trigger was the issue with Lee's turbo, and looking at the balance of the turbine, compressor and engine performance. I kinda immersed myself in several texts including Watson's great book since before Christmas... wow just seen the price on Amazon, time to sell my copy 699 USD secondhand.... then thought, nah, buy the compressors in my range of interest from different manufacturers, and have a real look at them than just trim numbers and diameters... and it's been quite educational... So I will write this up if peeps are interested? For Lee's app in JIL, looking like using his current turbine T3 phase III or IV forget now (have it written down) and a T3 / T4 60-1 compressor. Have also done the machining to hybrid a RS500 comp wheel (very light) and a GT30 turbine on a roller core, think that would be quite brutal

Re: GTA project engine
Got all the bits back now ....
But ..we've taken the heads off to check the burn and it all looks spot on .MrF is very pleased so they are now away to have some inlet valve work and whilst we're at it the bore is going to be increased out to 93
Some of the liners have scoring so makes sense ...I think ...

Nice to hear about good burn characteristics !
Do you strech bore just because of crappy liners or to gain some extra torque, i ask cause of the compromise to reduce liner thickness!?
Why do you create new driveshafts, are they lighter or will the oe ones be to weak?
Greets from swizz...

Re: GTA project engine
Hi Chris .
Liners will take it ,they are the same outside diameter in the 3l engines as in the 2.5 .
Crappy liners yes so we may as well get some more out of them .
Driveshafts are from Australia ,off road stuff that uses the UN1 and yes , OE will be too weak

Good morning!
Hmmm...do you mean the driveshafts or the thing about the bores??... i'm really unsure if i also should strech the bores, but i think if i want to use the car for hillclimbing, the lighter engine internals of a v6 would be heavy enough!? Do you think i will stuck with the bore capacity then?
I was also talking to Martin about it, but its always interesting to hear what others think about..
Driveshafts...i think i'll talk to you when i'm doing the box..

Looking good Lee. The brakes are looking cool
I'm thinking of cutting off the top of the turrets on GTT and putting a piece of flat plate steel on so I've got a 'clean sheet of paper' so to speak. How thick is the stuff you're using?
