    respect owed to the r5

ive been using my r5 now for the past few days in the snow, and i admit when its dry i spend most my time flying past people and watchin the road and cars rather than the drivers.. however.. today i was stuck on the A444 in very very slow moving traffic, the r5 wasnt playing up and was holding its own on the sheet glass beneath.. what i was amazed at was just how much attention smiles nods and the funny hand signal on the steering wheel i had from people coming past in the opposite direction..

Its still kind of a buzz that there are some people out there who dnt just see them as stupidly badly shaped sheds on wheels.

same here, always get old people at the petrol station going "i remember them back in the day" or "dont see many of them no more" the best is when you get random people pointing at it or sticking their thumbs up,lol.

I remember once I had an old person tell me there was a problem with my car as it was making alot of whoosing noise under the bonnet

The amount of attention and people looking, stopping, staring and coming over to talk to you was unreal and I really did enjoy it until every once in a while I got a dick head telling me about their mate Dagenham Dave who built theres in the back garden running 700bhp, nitrous and the worlds fastest and beat everything in site

Every time I go out in mine, I either get people turning around to look at it, or a good comment!

I've had it a few times when I've been pulled up and people have come out to have a chat / compliment me on the car. Love it

You should see some of the looks I get in Oz! The majority seem to like it too! There are some who like to mock but, when asked if Holden have an F1 team or a Championship winning engine, it all goes a bit quiet.......

When I was over in Oz, I showed an Australian guy who my mate knew a picture of my 5, and he was just like 'WTF is that!?' although he was more into his jap / drift cars.

Re: respect owed to the r5

I've had two people in the last month talk to me. First old boy in halfords telling me he had one and sold it a few years ago etc etc. The other was only the other day while in atraffic jam in the snow. Wound down the window and he asked me if I would sell up. ERM NO!

It's even better when you see another 5 driver around, which is once in a blue moon.

Re: respect owed to the r5

I pulled up at a service station after missing my junction then to make matters worse a T5 pulls up behind me and a police man steps out and comes over, he just wanted to chat, asking me about it and i told him id missed my exit, he said the next one was miles away so he opened up a police lane that went over a small bridge over the motorway then gave me a police escort to the correct junction then shot off down the motorway.
