New poster! (less than 10 posts)

Fitting an in car boost to up the boost a bit on occasion, wizard says this is fine but dont bother with spider.....thought spider was a good idea to prevent bieng too frisky with how much boost ?. Can anyone advise why fitting the spider is a bad idea ?, also if fitting it is NOT a bad idea how do i plumb the bugger in as i brought one under advise and i have no fitting instructions and i dont know where the 5 different connections go

depends if you are gonna run a boost controller, a bleed valve or a PRV.
which one did you tell the wizard you were gonna run???

Depends if you got a good wizard or bad one, sometimes they give very useful information but sometimes they seem to contradict each other. Ideally you want a bleed valve under the bonnet and use this to set maximum boost then connect the exhaust port of the bleed valve to your in car valve.

Set it up as shown in the diagram in the files section

With the spider valve and incar boost valve you are over complicating things, get it set either on the actuator or if there is not enough thread on the actuator arm use a bleed valve. Set fuelling up for one preset boost level and leave it at that.

Most people say that 1.5bar is the maximum for prolonged use after this the ring lands may fail. Others disagree and go with 2.0bar plus. Strapped intercooler will work with 1 bar anything more with need a replacement alloy item like you mentioned.

I personally wouldn't go anymore than 16psi on a standard T2 but as RS250NUT says alot of preople have different opinions on the limit of the standard T2.

As Rs250NUT says also no need to over complicate the boost pipework, setting the boost pressure on the actuator will be good enough. Having it set to 1 boost pressure setting is ideal as the carb can't fuel for 2 or more different boost pressure's.

    Re: In car boost

thanks for all your input guys i really appreciate it, currently running at 14 psi on std intercooler so i will change intercooler and increase by a FEW psi and get fueling set to suit, also i'd like to know what is involved in getting fueling set up ?

cool, thats as high as you can go before you need to change the jets in the carb from standard

easiest way to up the fuelling is fit a 130 main and a 100 air corrector jet in the carb, should be good for 17psi

    Re: In car boost

i have reciepts for an uprated carb and you can easily tell carb is modded (bottom half is newer than top) so im unsure what jet sizes are in it, also i think its overfueling as it seems very rich. Gonna try get a alloy intercooler and up boost a little then see how she's fueling.....will get her looked over once done.
