    Cosworth

Im going having a look at a Sierra Sapphire cosworth this weekend at a pretty reasonable price to miss, im a condfident mechanic to know whats what and whats not but something ive never looked into is prices of service parts and genaral parts such as disks, pads, bearings, gasket sets etc etc... Are most parts still available at decent costs these days.. ???

I have lots of contacts if you need cosworth parts as I have 3 of them. Drop me a line if you get stuck. What you buying and what price as there are some real cheap ones out there at the mo.
Burtons are overpriced for Cosworth parts!

    Re: Cosworth

a mate worked at bmw and knows his stuff, but after the engine let go the rebuild cost more than the car.. needed a new head, block, clutch yada yada yada, no labour costs etc as he did the lot.. it was the best part of 4k or more, i think that was standard items too, might have been a turbo in that price but i can't remember..

i know you boys arent shy of spending a few quid but the cossie gears dear..

he had it 2 years did 1500 miles and lost out on about 5k.. not that i don't know how amazing the cars are or can be, but it was a sh1tter, rusty, with a knackered interior..

id only buy an uber minter.. cheap = skint

Good ones a are fecthing strong money again. There are alot of old rotters out there.

As Dave mentioned alot of Cosworths hardly ever get used they spend their lifes locked away. I haven't used mine yet this year. Opened the garge door to show Jon RS250nut on here. I will be taking it to Ford Fair though.

I went & looked at one when I sold my Evo as I fancied one, right bag of ****e it was, trailing arm bushes had gone, abs not working & just felt awful to drive, it just wasn't worth 4k to me at all.... as has been said to get a good one you are talking 5k+ these days it seems, unless you get lucky....

And the rest! They have started to go up again. Saphires are £6.5k - 8k now. I sold my old saphire for £4250 with new engine build, complete respray with new inner and outer wheel arches, new MD 68 turbo RS500 intercooler Samcos, Big break conversion, quick shift, recon box and diff. If I had only kept it for a while longer.

    Re: Cosworth

Look at the price of 3 doors on pistonheads if you want a shock, good one for 10 large plus, Then the price of rs500's I think by the time I look at buying one after building my car, buying a house etc they will be out of my reach

Agreed get rid of the Samcos and the Bling. Interior looks A1. I missed out on a 32K RS500 not long ago.
