car came back from spray shop today, well rolling shell anywaywill start building it up tomorrow , have also 60% completed the hard pipe boost kit and have carbon fibre wraped the wing mirrors and base plates, they just need sanding and finishing more piccys coming soon
that looks awesome, should be scary to drive with that motor on the rear wheels!
Top work on the ol' butty front Andy.
Glad it went in with no real issues - Here's a few photo's
This is going to be one special 5.
Jp's welding skills came in for welding the gearbox circlip in place.
[/QUOTE]
ill get you buttler!!
best picture ive taken for a while
The first attempt to lift the engine had it's problems - namely a broken lifting eye.
Then in she went, no lube required.
Oli (buttler) was not impressed.
And there she is all in place - Unfortunately, Handy had a wrong engine mount which he has since sorted, so if it looks a bit on the pi** then that should be sorted by tomorow AM.
Top job
holy crap!!!!that picture fourth on the right classic
must have been deep in thought !!!!!LMAO
lookin good andy, sorry i couldn't make it to help but FCS has wiped me out and my fuel gauge said no
ps. dont put that disgusting ph1 grille on!!
looking good handy! cant wait to see this on the road.
where did you get it painted? i need to get mine done soon but round here they want ALOT of money
it looks like the weld has pulled the circlip out of the groove, is it OK?
Great job Andy
Going to be a bit special when its all done, going be an experience on track
Nice meeting you and OS at Maccy- d`s, shame my car was battered
Good luck
all good andy did check before installing shaft
been a busy boy today ,drive shafts in , turbo and turbo blanket bolted on,exhaust cut to length a test fitted ,just needs welding(jp racing cough)coolant pipes fitted, oil cooler pipes fitted, fuel pipes to inlet /pressure reg fitted ,oil catch tank/header tank re-fitted,oil return to sump fitted, template for n/side front engine mount made as r11 item wont fit jc5 boxr25 v6/21 turbo airbox fitted, deffo trying for national day , rolling road on 10 august
Bring it with you Wednesday mate will weld it up for you then
Top job Handy Andy, was great to see it in the metal and get lump in, reckon you should be good to go for national day! big up da butties!
nice work.. can't wait to hear and see it cranked up and rolling!
I have a slightly easier method of installing the engine, I have a little trolley see picture.. I've since modified it slightly with two raised bits that meet the subframe giving clearance for the sump.
With the back of the car jacked up, I wheel the engine into the engine bay.. slide a jack underneath, jack up and drop the four mounting bolts in, this allows me to do the whole job single-handedly.. then plumb up as normal, it's quite useful for unsociable hours when you just feel the need to take the engine out
I generally leave the driveshafts, hubs and struts connected although thats down to preference!
great idea Andrew, thats a deffo mod within the next 3 months
superb work!
could you say to me of which mark come the mask from your turbo?
www.projectptp.com for the turbo blankets/mask
any ideas to which duct and where to mount my air duct for the airbox
cant get underneath or to the side vents ,to many bits in the way
i can either go up through the engine cover or straight out the back of the boot(as shown in piccys above, any ideas or opinions on what would work/look the most sensible
You could mock up a perspex right rear 3/4 'glass' and have a cold feed straight to the airbox/turbo?
That way you could incorporate a subtle duct for the air scoop effect
how about into that plastic vent next to your water tank.. that should go over your wheel arch.. maybe you can force some air from your side vent through that passage..if it still exisits
could make an alloy plate with duct running out of it ,directly feed into airbox, that way the air would have to be pulled over the wheel arch void another good idea andy
few more updates, fitted gear box oil and engine oil , intrestingly because i've shimmed the the front drivers mount by 12mm and fabricated passenger side the engine,it seems to be tilting back a liitle more ,and has taken a bit more oil in both area's ie it has taken 4 litres of gear oil ,and 4 litres of engine, the dipstick only shows half full , or do the f7p/f7r take more oil anyway to fill havent read oil capacity in haynes manual yetdoh!
also finished making braided brake lines and fitted on all four corners
that is automotive porn in my book, seriously hats off, that is ace
Great Project guys, Awesome Car !!
How have I only just come seen this thread, I'm with Scoff pure Automotive porn!
4 -5 days for delivery , the manifold is the cast item jobbie that k -tec sell , but got mine of ebay £89 or try www.engine dynamics/or performance engine components (pec) only thing is if you want to run a bigger t3 then you will need a adapter plate (ebay £40-50)or weld your own must admit if i did'nt have the supercharger ,would have gone for a tubular type with longer headers(follow on the lines of r5 turbo2 ,and bought it around the side of block
Looking mighty damn mega fella!
just finished fitting new steering rack and filled the brake and hydro clutch system, then bleed the system and checked operation of clutch slave cylinder, all good with only 2 leaks on the whole system one being my fault (forgot to fully tighten one of the hose connectors on too the brake bias valve (feed in) the other was weeping from feed in to the hydro hand brake but sorted with a re tighten and some ptfe tape around the thread pmt ftw, also made a start on the wiring loom to engine ,which i should have finished by end of week, 45 degree bends turned up today also ,so should have that completed by end of week also
When you putting the wheely bars on???
i need to see this bugger running, its going to be a bit special me feels
