Because of the reg' number
That car is used a lot at Slowly Sideways demonstrations, and is owned by a guy who lives up near Blot. I believe the car actually started out in life as a TDC.
Plus, I'm sure I read once that out of the 8 original Maxi's that remain, only one of them is in this country, and that's one of DIAC sponsored cars (not to be confused with the replica that's also in the DIAC colours).
I've no idea on that one. It's definitely a Maxi kit, which JP specialises in fitting to non-Maxi's. They must be the gayest wheels I've ever seen though
That colour scheme is what Carlos Sainz' Maxi wore, and that car's now owned by Renault. I know there are several replicas in that colour scheme.
I'm trying to think where the original Maxi's are. Renault built 20 (to homologate them). They broke 10 immediately (for spares). Two were written off.
Four are owned by Renault.
One sold in Monaco a couple of years back.
One sold in France last year, on carclassic.com.
There's the one I mentioned in my previous post, in the UK (I think it's owned by DV8Motorsport).
That leaves 1
I could very well be, and probably am, wrong, as I haven't really followed anything to do with the Turbo 2's/Maxi's etc for a couple of years. Where's Moggy when you need him?
And here it is in its older paint scheme when John Price Rallied it!

I think it's a TDC we have at work in DIAC colours. I ought to go an look at it some time, it's been there years and all I've done is glance at it
I've just realised, this is one hell of a thread hijack. Sorry Andy
sorry, my mistake should have been renaut 5 superproduction racer,
with white bumpers and wheels
cant get any links though, but i'm sure someone will get some links up though, just to show what i am on about, just love the colour scheme
Don't paint it a modern metallic colour, they always look **** on old cars.
White for this one I think. Says prototype.
just finishing the rear boot trim tonight
waiting to for mr nigel to finish spot welding the vent covers and bulk head hose connector got to get camping gear ready also !! how much room in the car Andy
choosen colour, its a maxi mayer colour reference 7-3482 which is quite close to bmw corperate blue(a gloss version of a bright electric blue) is how i can best describe the colour
Sounds too modern. It will look cheap if you're not very careful.
The colour which andy has chosen looks good on the car and i think it will suit it.
But it is hard to tell as he has only tried it on a little piece of the rear quarter
The welding should be done by august.
2011 if track records are to be considered.
Pleanty of room in the car - until you get in then there's a bit of a squeeze.
Anyway, stop hijacking your own thread you numpty, back to the colour. Sounds great. Can't wait to take a peak tonight when we roll up.
Andy

New poster! (less than 10 posts)
well mines about a week away from being on the road i reckon so a hand could be offered on some run in trips lol. btw you still got the oil cap?
That should easy spin up in 3rd
bring on santa pod baby!!!!! pahhh 10.6, bring on the 9's
awsome car, love it!
re 9's guys, not wishing to sound pesimistic but it takes about 145mph trap even with RWD to pass at 9.9. 145mph will take 550hp+ and no renault JB/JC gearbox will deal with that at the rear wheels
Nope, ive seen RWD cars crack 9`s with only 140mph trap, they get out the box well.. But as you say the gearbox wont last to see them times, prob just fail trying to launch the 1.5 60ft needed..
10`s is some doing, 9`s is another game... good luck
Top build tho, awsome work....
Rob, you'd need a low low 1.5 sec 60' or better to make a 9 sec pass with only 140mph! I was trying to stay within the realms of possibility !
Thats not a GTT box, its laguna diesel box, proberbly won't last but will put up a better fight than a gtt box will
Wow. 9s or not, it'll go well and that is an awesome engine. Props!
Can't wait to see if he can do it. Good luck to Handy.[/QUOTE]
in all honesty Andy i have no intention of running it up pod , purely a road and track car
just a spur of the moment remark u know what i am like, but it was nice to see the responses, could almost "smell the fear"
total respect scoff
ps well done on your new pod record epic stuff, and im very confident you will hit the very low 10's
