so weve got one on order, what go faster bits are about? Quite a nippy car already, could it b the replacement for the 5 in 15 years time?

A mate of mine got one when they were released. Looks ok and he said its "quite nippy". Not sure if there are many bits around yet to modify em. Just PMT it mate..
lol might have to if she will let me play under the bonnet
any peeps who work in a dealership have the proper spec for these cars? ie what turbo they use, size and boost pressures?
I did have a look under the bonnet of my mates and couldn't even see the turbo .
There isn't alot of room in the engine bays thats all I'll say.

well im hoping they use a t2 based turbo for easy upgrades, it does have a standard overboost feature so it might be possible to rig that up to be over boosted all the time, mabey mix in with a stealth fmic
I would be tempted to put the RenaultSport bumpers / arches on it. Make it a true modern day GTT, with the flared arches, small engine, turbo, etc
was thinking along those lines, just wondering what gives the 133 its wider track, the cup clios use different offset wheels
GO FOR THE 133 ...............
just my opinion
goodbye warrenty......
Get an import fella
I can see 2 types of turbo.....
not sure about the ease of overboosting....YET
car should be here in 2weeks. Would b good 2 know the boost it runs and what it overboosts too but thats probably ecu controled, mabey by a solonoid like the nissans so could poss bypass it and run the overboost pressure all the time
well, PM your reg number as soon as you know it and i'll pull my large one out....
book that is...
your minds are shocking
will do buddy cheer, from them pics can you tell what 2 turbo they are?
NO, SORRY....DONT GET DETAIL LIKE THAT ON A PICTURE......
but with the reg number I can check the big book of knowledge......I will point at pictures and ask the biggers boys to read out the words,.
yes,,,,,
trick exhaust and cams.........goes like a vicars knacker sack at communion
i have a feeling the turbo will be more tunable in the long run, not going to be that hard to squeese another 33 bhp out of the turbo engine to match the performance of the 133. mind the 133 is a little track wapon where the gt will be let down, remember this is a daily driver for my mrs tho so shes not that intrested in hooning around a track, tho she does partake in the traffic light gran prix lol
Paul,
Can you let me know what Turbo is on my Diesel? Reg GN57 DWV i dont mind people seeing my reg, as there are pic's off it all over the net.
The top one's a KP35 Borg warner unit, super small, a T2 is larger in comparison.
The second is a Mitsubishi turbo, not sure of what frame though. A TD25 of some sort?
The top one also looks very similar to the clio diesel 1.5 turbo, the same one used on the Micra.
Don't Renault also use KKK on the deisel range and Mitsubishi for the petrol...

uber small units then, what boost they good for adam?
just found this on the borg warner unit

not sure if converted the quoted boost pressure right but im sure it equates to over 30psi, but lists it as the diesel turbo
They've all got 360 thrust bearings as std, but that doesn't really count for much. I can't remember what boost they run stock either. Personally, I wouldn't try much over stock boost.
I doubt they run 30psi, i've only ever seen big cranes and CAT machinery run that kind of boost.
Around 18psi would be a good guess for a diesel. For a petrol the actuators are usually set to 5psi or so, the rest is controlled by a solenoid.
Ah, wait, I just remembered. I tested one of those KP35's a couple of weeks ago to get a boost reading and it was 25psi or so. So I guess it's not all lies...
ill wait to get the reg to find out what turbo is on the car. surley such a small turbo cant be efficient at such high boost?
They flow a hell of alot better than the old turbo's. The comp housings on those Borg warner turbo's are so smooth inside, perfect moulding, nothing like the old T series. It's the same with the comp wheels and shafts.
looks like this car could be fun, wonder what the boost limit on the ecu is, if it has one lol
oo i like the sound of this thread
i have a twingo GT o nthe fornt yard and thought the turbo would be about as good as one of those ebay electric superchargers.
but on seeing some positive comments above i have my fingers crossed for future potential!!!!
So Adey, what's the first mod to the Twingo going to be?
Thank god they don't look like this anymore!
Looks like one of those moped cars
seen one on top gear last nite looks mint...
also that little fiat abarth they were testing looked
fun
New poster! (less than 10 posts)
my mate works for hylton reno and he had the 1.2 turbo as a loan car got 120mph out of it on a private road, onli mod we did was remove the recirculateing d/v pipe so it hiisst.
LOOOOOOKOUT Ewok's getting himself a new Twingo GT?! Good on you mate!!!
I suspect it's going to be Mrs Wok's car though so as you say you're going to have to tickle her under the chin to allow you to play with it!?
yeah i got it, tempted 2 deck it but goes real well, put 3k on it. Not had chance to play yet tho the 5 and clio are taking all my time
dont you think the turbo kicks in very quick and its out of puff quick, i am sure its the same engine in my clio 1.2tce happy days
yeah, feels quite like a derv in that respect, aparently the stock injectors are at 100 percent duty already tho, looks like an injector upgrade with more boost will be the first port of call
ok just for info if anyone is looking, if some one could check my workings though that would be great. the stock 1.2 tce runs 1700millibars of boost pressure, tho the ecu wont cut the engine untill 2200millibars. as far as i can figure this works out to be about 9.9psi of boost but the fuel cut wont happen untill 17psi? anyone else confirm this?
if so im guessing renault would have set the car to run upto 2200millibars with no problem? free boost please?
They must be absolute pressures adey, so yes 1700mbar is 1.7bar absolute, or 0.7bar / 10.15psi of boost as we'd know it. 2200mbar absolute would be 1.2bar / 17.4psi.
thats what i assumed, might have to have a cheeky play next week then ;-)
Could be an issue if the ECU is correcting the fueling thinking it is getting that air pumped back in. Can run a touch lean (but for a VERY short time obviously) this is why a lot of cars wanting whoosh noise have to retain the oe recirc also to stp the ecu crying or the issue I mention above.
Would it break, prob not :P
I wouldn't do that without a WB and det cans, way too much BS out there on the www... If you want to be real flash, TIP and compressor exit temperature would be good things to monitor too.
i got that info from my renault master tech friend? well the levels of boost and how much switches the engine into limp
