    What's next??

Given the success of the Dial sets what could be the next thing to look into getting made for a group buy?!

Post up here something which you think the club should organise a group buy on & we can discuss the pro's & con's on here??

Obviously it may be tricky to organise getting 25 new Solex 32DIS's to be made but as they say everything is possible?!

Think what everybody would be after would be an OE gear knob, but doubt thats going to be easy to replicate.

How about the leather gaiter without any crap coloured stitching or logos

Actually you say that about the solex carb's, but i think if we could get a production of around 50-100 carbs they may consider it as future run....

My dad used to make them back in the 80's i will ask if he has any connections still.

Free delivery on 2 or more, the tyres would have still have to be delivered to each persons house as no-where to store/postage on. Maybe see if Dawn can get a discount set up with them, but they are cheapest by far anyway.

Buying bulk I recon I could get them for around £7.50 inc vat each.

Includes the two L shape bars, the retaining clips, plus the rattle clips. Can get plenty of these as well if you interested in putting it in the club.

    i'd take a g knob...

decals but no ones ever come up with the goods

i'd go for most things listed

    after going in this thread
    https://www.rtoc.org/boards/showthread.php?t=11230

what about lovely full clamp sets, they cost a few £ so a bulk buy might save a few pennies..

or maybe a run of jap bodykit

Particularly the gear knob. That would be great if there was somebody somewhere who could do a good job of it.

    Re: What's next??

A new o.e gearknob, to kinda compliment the new shmoo dials, would be coolio.

What about contacting Michelin to see if they'd entertain the idea of running off a once-only batch of MXV's? I know we'd probably have to order a bulk-load, but the 195/55/13" tyre size is also popular with the mk2 escort fraternity, so we might be able to shift some sets in that direction.

If there's enough interest in new 32dis carb's, I can speak to the guy that I arranged the previous discounted price units with, to see if he can source another limited batch run.

    Few more ideas...

    Devil strut-brace.
    Boost hoses (o.e webbing type).
    Carpets (red, grey, black).

Nice idea and I would definately have a set but I suspect that would be humungously expensive for both the club and members wanting them.

Can I just say gear gaiters again

I believe Michelin started reproducing the old TRX tyres a few years back, so maybe they could do a batch of our MXV's.

    Good call Mart

    Devil strut braces:
tried a few times with Devil, but they arent interested... I rekon they would be £150+ to get made, so not worth it.

    Coupe brake ducts:
Im looking into this. They are nice ducts and do the job. They seem to be injection moulded - made in two halves and glued together. I could temporarily pull a pair off a car to copy. Otherwise have a slightly broken set.... It is possible to make a similar thing from ally, but takes ages to do nicely. Anyone?

    Coupe badges:
Doubt this would be popular with the coupe owners though. But Im sure they would sell. I would have one. Must be possible to get an EXACT copy within £30.

    Tyres:
I rekon an order of 500 would get Michelin interested. Some rare batches are made of other tyres, only 200 per year etc. Some old Aston/Etype ones for example.

Period bckets seats!; i want some. But not the 70's inspired cobreau GT8 one though. Thinking more like the cobreau early kevlar ones from the 80's!!!!!!! A Pair would look amazing!

Ye can all feck-off with a tyre bulk buy No way is Me-Dawny gonna put up with that much rubber in the bedroom

Seriously ...the big stuff is a no-no .They are not likely to hold it for us and drop ship .I would be willing to store it but we'd need to rent premises to do so

If anyone is interested, I have ( what I believe is the last set ) a brand new set of standard Phase 1 decals still in the wrapping. If there was enough interest I would happily look in to having them copied. All depends on what people think

Standard knob gear knob would be delightful!
Black parcel shelf would also be of interest

    Re: What's next??

I could possibly store the tyres at my work place, but that would depend on how many we'd have to initially order, and how quickly you guys would buy them.

As said, the mk2 escort guys run that size tyre, so there is an option to off-load them that way as well.

Sam, if it's an exact match, I reckon there might be a good few sales of those Devil replica braces. They sell for a similar/sometimes higher price on here, and are usually sold within minutes of being advertised.

Wasn't someone looking into producing the Cup brake ducts before? In fact, if I remember rightly, didn't said person actually knock up a set, only for everyone to then mug him off for the cr8p look/build quality?

Billy, there was a guy on Ebay selling off gtt (ph2 red flick) seat material not so long ago. I know that doesn't help matters as such now, but it at least proves that the seat material is already available (from somewhere!) on a roll.

I don't think storage of tyres would really be the main problem, even at as little as £50 each a run of 500 would be £25k and pm fairly certain the club coffers are not quite that full.

    good evening has all.
for me: I would not be against to have the stickers side of PHASE 2 and phase 1! (but has faithful reproduction has the origin!!!!!! )
for the AO, we have just reproduced has identical the monogram of AO!!! I in and to buy for me and it are superb!! but it seems to me that you have them on ebay.co.uk ----> quality and it there?

for the pommel of gear shift lever, also summons us on the subject: running at the beginning of 2010 should have samples to us.
idem, we remade has identical the stickers of the driving compartment!

if not has to see if possible to thus make:
    pommel speed.
    stickers side phase 1et 2.
    by shock phase 1.

Maybe, but that's going on the assumption of them being a bullseye each, and us having to buy 500 of them.

i may be wrong ( it happens often ), but i am sure miller mentioned he had started the process of getting all the under bonnet stickers reproduced
I think your right, he gave some away at ND 08 if i remember correctly...

Can we get a top 5 from this thread then and start the ball rolling? Just on the tyres, i seem this as possibly a waste of time as nearly all the 5's i know of roll on 15's? Would obviously be great for those that want the oe look.

idem, we remade has identical the stickers of the driving compartment!

if not has to see if possible to thus make:
    pommel speed.
    stickers side phase 1et 2.
    by shock phase 1.

By the look of it & my understanding of the Franglais Xenon & the boys have got someone looking at knocking up some GTT Gearknobs (Pommel Speed) and the engine bay stickers!!

    This looks promising!!!

Given the lack of o.e on your gtt, you won't be wanting any stickers, gear knobs, carpets, etc either then

LOL, you have a point matey, although i do try and keep the body/interior as o/e as possible. I would love a gear nob and carpet if they ever became a reality!
