    my raider runabout

as per other post, on sat i swapped my 19 cabriolet for this:

    1990 G plate raider

car was delivered on a trailer sat morning, with no tax, mot, and a non runner.

spent sat afternoon having a look to see what it'd need.... which was lots!!

    so far i've done...

    • free off handbrake adjuster and adjust handbrake as it didn't work at all
    • stripped front and rear brakes, new front pads
    • replaced battery, as it was beyond dead
    • stripped and rewired entire engine bay loom (see pic below of wires i removed that didn't actually do anything!)
    • rewired dash so it all works
    • exhaust was hanging off, now sits perfect thanks to a hammer and cable ties
    • sorted front bumper mounts as it was cabletied on
    • re-atatched front wings as they tried to be wings lol
    • replaced a tyre and put them all on the correct way
    • replaced water pump as it was leaking
    • re-routed throttle cable and made it operate perfik!
few more odds and sods that i wont list because i cant remember.

had it running today at lunch, nice feeling, shame that it smokes a bit on idle, and spits out raw fuel from the exhaust... think a std carb is in order

still lots to do, it came with the std speedlines which i'm contemplating refurbing and putting back on, but they'll need 4x new tyres

mot is booked for sat - eek! all being well it'll get taxed at end of month, and be on the road as a daily drive, i'm using the orange one at the mo which is nice but i'm paranoid about damaging it lol

unsure whether to put it back to OE exterior wise, or just use and abuse it, my funds are limited at the mo so i'm not sure whats the best bet..

    here are the pics anyway:

    Re: my raider runabout

well it passed its MOT... just lol

page of advisories, and a few bits to sort out still but its ready for next month when it'll get treated to tax and insurance.

drives well, running std boost with a janky t2 and it is rather slow, but i'm used to my orange one which is a totally different sorta car

found the original service book in the paperwork too, and its all stamped up to date! shame its such a bucket as its got FSH and genuine 84,000miles

    Re: my raider runabout

    about time i updated this...

captains log: so far so good, other than a split degassing pot a couple of months ago, and regular trips to the petrol station, this is proving to be a bit of a reliable one! even made it to ace cafe the other night without a hitch!

treated it to some avo coilovers, yellow fogs, flamer kit and a few stickers, and thats about it of late

got these to go on if i decide to keep it, and another set of raider wheels we are refurbing at the moment as well

lastly, convinced my bud at work to get a 5, after selling off his old golf and all his bits he raised enough to get himself one, and we picked up tom t's one sunday afternoon, couple of weeks later, and a weekend in the workshop at work and this is how it looks now
