Gun metal grey, and flames out the back, and non functional plastic chrome supper charger with big belt sticking thru and electric motor spinning it for effect ok, come back to earth...

    Re: Back to Black

I'm going to try and get the paint done by the weekend but need to check that they are in fact the problem so asap please .If they are not then I don't see the point in taking it to NAT DAY so I might as well pull the lump .....but I really need to solve the issue as it could impact on the new lump if it's ecu or wiring related
If the heads are done then perhaps we can meet up this weekend for a conflab ?

Yes ,I'll give it a go.Satin black ,how hard can it be
Rat GTA .... I don't think it's been done and it'll certainly be different
The doors will still be white come nat day though as I'm on the look out for some to lighten and keep the existing ones intact for sale later .

If it all looks ****e then I'll just have to get better over the Winter or save some pennies for a trip to Cumbria.
I really want it to look a bit half arsed anyway though

No worries Pauly .I might call you if it all goes Not metalworm here though
I do have a bit of a The front wings are plastic on the GTA ,both were reshaped by the wrong offset fronts when I lowered it years ago .
One side has a big split/chunk in it that I have sort of strengthened with some filler but needs more repair .I was thinking to tracealong the crack with a small soldering iron and see if it 'welds' itself then fill ?
Roof has a fair few scratches in it that need light filling but apart from that it is all pretty good

Are you using rattle cans? Get a trigger to fit them if you are. My mate has a dent in his thumb after painting a sierra with cans many years ago

.. never had any luck trying to do similar in the past, there will be too much stress in the plastic for soldering iron joint, and will give straight away. If you can put a stop to the end of the crack and it's more hairline than big gap, then Loctite / Superglue will do it great... need to use a catalyst first ... if you fine grain some fillings (anything will do to bind the glue line) pile that over the wet line of the glue on the backside (and either side to bridge the repair), should go off rock hard, worked great repairing my indicator stork when I managed to snap it off at the base of the switch...

    just a thought

Got it all flatted and prepped for paint .I've done the undercoat on the bonnet .I reckon if I can get that looking half decent then the rest will be easier .
What grade is best to flat back the undercoat ?It's out of a rattle can .I thought 1200 dry ??

    Re: Back to Black

Not too bad .....I had to random spray in a circular motion on the last coat to get rid of the 'striping ' uneven shine so it's got a slightly rough texture ....I'm now debating whether to give it a very wet and soapy rub ......or shall I finish the bonnet first ?

I'm sorted thanks Paul .I'm in Leicester on business so will drop stuff off whilst I'm there .PMs are playing up yes I eventually got yours 3 times apiece .

Bumpers and roof done ...Front bumper is a bit 'dented ' so I've not spent too much time on that ,will look out for another .It'll get chipped up first time out anyways ..
I think I will need a few new stickers in places but overall it isn't looking too bad .

Yes ...left it off so you can try and look a bit more getting in and out ....There's a knack

Just finishing off the last bit then it's ...seats ...rear brakes need attention ...fix rusty jack point ....MOT runs out on the 7th but the new lump is all ready to put together .I'll get it MOT'd on the old lump so we'll be good to go as and when the new lump is in .
Would be good to get it done before the weather gets nippy
Brunt RAOC test day is scheduled for sometime Oct I think .

Looks very good, pictures can make things look better or worse then they are, when up close does it look like its been done with cans, do you have that line effect?

Did you flat off the paint after top coat and buff at all to loose any overspray, lines or orange peel?

Looks good in the photos i must add

No striping but it does have some areas that show a diff reflection iyswim .Overall it is pretty good for tins .Can't really flat it as it's satin ,I did give the bonnet a very wet/soapy flat with 2500 but the rest is how it came out the can .
I'm very pleased with it though as it's the overall effect I was after rather than a park up and polish finish .
