    Suitable springs with Koni's?

I have a set of Koni adjustables to go on the front (not coilovers). As you may or may not know i have the heavier 225 engine and need to balance the lot out. Anyone recommend a suitable spring rate/manufacturer that has a different choice? Im needing these fairly quick.

how much extra weight have you put over the front wheels with that engine dude ?

might be worth finding out what the meg 225 suspension is capable of and replicating that for your car.

    just an idea

I have no idea on the weight tbh. The springs could do with just a touch beefier than your typical uprated jobbies!

I noticed the same too matt, my old standard avo setup felt horrible with the 16v engine in. I think you'll want something in the 300-350lb/in range if it's going to be comfortable on the road still.

are they not just 2.25 or 2.5" coilover ? demon tweeks sell 2.25 and 2.5" in different rates and lengths. If they're not coilover I have no idea!

na mate they are the standard configueration. Im not a coil over fan tbh. I think Dunc Grier had a custom Koni set up on that vag engined 5?? Might be a good starting point.

Matt. Slightly off your request but have you seen the coil over conversion kit from rally design? Could fit a set of 500lb for sixty quid. Thats if the kit and damper holds

2" ID, cock in a sock, you need to shorten them, find some way of attaching them without destroying the damper, cutting off the original seat, modifying the top mount to fit anything. It's not a kit to convert a GTT to coilover, it's a bit of threaded tube and some nuts.

I realise that in the short term they look like an expensive luxury, but you're looking at custom springs for the standard seats, how many sets do you think you'll get through before you get the rate and height right? 2 1/4" springs are relatively cheap to swap around.

I ended up paying about £600 for the H+R stuff for the Twingo, but the springs could potentially be swapped (although they are currently progressive), the dampers can be rebuilt and revalved by Bilstein, and the height can be set to pretty much whatever I fancy.

Have you been onto coilsprings.co.uk yet? It'll be good if someone is prepared to make one off sets of springs.

Those FK Konis seem to be quite a good price but, can you specify different/higher rate springs?
