    sierra rs cosworths

i love these cars so much, mainly the 3dr ones, but why do they cost so much, saw a rs500 4 sale,£26k he wanted! they cost 20k brand new!!!!,and the escort cossies take the piss and even some of the smaller rs badge cars like fiesta and escort rs turbos, why r they so expensive?,just because they got an rs badge on it they whack the £ up,is there any rs fans in the club?

i`d love a sierra cossie..... i`d even be happy with a mint sapphire, infact if and when i ever sell the 5 i would like 1 next

a chap down the rd has not long bought a white 4x4 cossie showroom condition with 30k on the clock. he payed 12k for it. seems alot for a sapphire 2 me but it is rather mint.

3 door cossies are not heavy! compared to a 5 they are but in modern day metal there as light as!

Hello hedge? learn to drive.........Rwd is so much more fun than front, more skill required in over steer than under steer.

a 5 is fun cause of its lift off over steer, on the limit driving......i love it

Im sorry mate but that is the biggest load of bollocks I have ever read, It has to be one of the finest rear drive set ups ever made. Rs5oo touring cars nuff said. Why are they worth so much probabley something to do with only 500 examples made including 4 prototypes and less than 400 around today.

I have a Sapphire 2wd cossy and a RS500, also several Renault 5 GT Turbos. They are completely different cars, but both grate fun! Try and keep a cossy on the road though £££££sss. As mentioned they dominated touring cars! That has got to say something! Rs500 are rare hence the price and spare parts are murder to find as Tickford used what ever they had to hand!

well compared to other rwd cars no, i feel it is was such a handfull in the corners yes ok its fast, not that ive owned one, but been in a sierra sapphire and it did handle but i dont know it felt such a lump even in the passenger seat, ive owned a e30 and a rx7 fc and tbh i think there both out handle them round a corner but overall spped and power the rs would be gone, like all rs's

but this is my opinion not fact, so before you slag me off as usual you have your opinion i have mine

I remember finding a wide arched Cosworth for sale that was called something like a Rousesport edition and after spending a couple of days trying to arrange a viewing the bloke sold it to someone else so i went out & bought my Cavalier Turbo

Your right.....but as rs250nut stated.....your talking bollocks - (my opinion)

lets be honest there is that much suspension tuning gear out there for all these cars (E30, RX7 and Cossies) that one could handle totally different to the next, a sorted RS is a proper weapon.

have to say I love cossie's.....always have done and the touring car era before the gimps got involved were some of the best racing ever seen, manufacturer's wanted to be involved and we'll never see that kind of "win on sunday, buy on monday" mentality again...sadly..

any car can be worth more now than when purchased if someone wants it enough...

    some cracking car's on this thread already....but all so common...you need a 9 turbo..LOL

A painter I used to work with at a crash repair centre had an Escort Cosworth, but couldn't drive it because he was banned for 2 yrs for drink driving, what a cock! I hid his spoiler that he'd just painted and said I'd accidently thrown it in the bin, being young, as I thought it was scrap... He nearly cried

I've always loved the sierra's myself...

The only reason the RS500 kicked arse in touring cars was because it had twice the power of anything else, it handled like a bag of ****e. Watch some footage from back then and see them wobble around the corners and piss off on the straights. The M3 was far better round the twisty bits.
Cossies are great cars but don't give them too much credit, lightish RWD car with 500bhp is always going to be a tool, it's just a pinto engined sierra with a 16v head and a T3(or 35 or 4 or...).

hehe i spend too much time watching the old stuff on youtube, and i can agree with your comments, the sierra drivers always look like they were trying to tip toe around the corners and then just blast down the straight, while the e30 m3 drivers look like they are on maximum attack on all the corners

Remember to own a Cosworth, you must be.

White, Bald, Fat, thick and wear a bomber jacket and white rebok classics and be called Dave or Steve or big Rob and you're knuckles must drag if you ever walk around. oh and you must have the obligatory POWER ENGINEERING sticker in the front window and its will always put out 450BHP even with no engine
