    What Tyres..?

New poster! (less than 10 posts)

I have Clio Williams (Gold) wheels which are 7J (7" wide).

I am using 195 45 15 and get slight rubbing on the inner arch. On the back i have 185/50/15 and they just about scrape when pushed hard.

Want to go 195 all round but what tyre is good. R888 and the Yoko 048 are good but ideally want something good in the wet too. Problem i have is there are not many 195/45/15 on the market like they were a few years ago.

Seems to be more 50 profile, which will ride more comfy but may cause more rubbing.

Do any of you get rubbing on full lock?

I know Falken FK452 are a good and cheap tyre but they dont do the size i need.

888s dnt come in a 195/45/15 but are still a very good tyre in the wet, better than any normal road tyre ive tried.

    Re: What Tyres..?

i had a set of R888 on my turbines, had to put spacers on the front to clear coilovers and couldnt take passangers (not even in the front),would scrub realy badly due to being 50 profile, went back to Toyo T1R's after 30miles since there 45profile and never scrub.

unless you want to raise your rear i would go 45's all round, either Toyo T1R's i would say or Yoko's

Are the T1Rs any good though...may have to go for them me thinks, only choice i guess.

most tyres scrub on the williams if it's lowered, mine was only lowered 20mm and it rubbed with 195/45/15's.

williams standard road height is alot more responsive than lowering the chuffer! slap some standard springs on coilovers, stiffen it up just a tad but keep the original stance!

plus 195/50/15 yoko paradas are excellent in the dry, and wet and cheap as well

£44 each and its said there as good as a set of toyos ( not the r888s)
i personally took my old willias to the nurburgring on a brand new set of these yokos and it held every corner beautifully.

    Re: What Tyres..?

The Yoko AVS were said to be the tyre of choice a few years back.

Just give 48 a call. He had those after the T1 proxy's.

And they did a softer compound of AVS it looked like.

That was a few years back though.

AVS was their premium tyre. Perry shod his GTT with them. It gripped well and I could really attack corners in the way you know I like to andin a way I couldn't do in my 5 with the Yoko A539's.

What tyres are on your Seat? That grips quite well!

    Re: What Tyres..?

I assume you mean williams wheels on a gtt?

Ive got a set for the van, 195/55 won't fit, they hit the inner arch. Im going for 195/45, probably toyo proxes t1r or goodyear eagle f1, both good tyres imo.

    Re: What Tyres..?

If i were you i wouldnt go for T1-r's.

The Falken FK452 are a really good cheap tyre. Well impressed, but they dont make a 15" tyre.

May go for these Marangoni tyres. Heard some very good feedback from friends too.

    First post!

Toyo T1R's seem good to me, I had a set of T1S before, they supposedly wear a little quicker than most tyres as they are fairly soft however the T1R's are meant to last a bit longer.

I know one thing I can get around a roundabout in the wet still pointing the correct way with the toyo's. When I put my original speedlines with uniroyals and pirellis back on It would only go sideways in the wet! Scary stuff

only thing toyo's arn't great for is snow!

    T1R's £44.60 each in 195/45/15
    T1R's £30.95 each in 195/50/15

Bit of a slight difference there in pricing

I'm running T1R's, and they're good enough for sub 9 minute laps around the 'Ring...

I found that "V" shaped tyres do not suit GTT quite good. These are all tires that I had on my car in dimension 195/45/15 on 7j rim. I will rate it from 1-5.

Toyo T1S - really crapy, couldn't hold car on straight line on 0.8bar of boost and rear was too nervous. Good on braking on wet surface though 2/5

Toyo T1R - better than T1S but not that good on steering wheel while wet 3/5

Eagle F1 - Nothing good to say about this tire 1/5

Bridgestone Potenza RE720 and 750 - almost the same tires but think that 720 was better choice. Good steering response on dry and wet. Braking was also good. Maybe little bit to hard rubber mixture 4/5

Continental SportContact2 - don't know what to say against this tire. Really.... 5/5

i really rate the pirreli p-zero nero tyres. i've got them on the ka and it grips so well. chuck it into nearly any corner and it holds up very well. i'm sure they make 195/45/15 too.

Ok guys......wow!! is all i can say.

    http://www.marangonityre.co.uk/Zeta_...D=2&Level2ID=2

I just got these fitted and they are really amazing!

Compound feels really grippy, everthing about these is great.

The wall is nice and rounded for progressive turning. Loads of grip.

Very much a cut slick stlye. Not tried in the wet.

for £40 go and get some now!

    Very impressed!

    Re: What Tyres..?

I assure you you will not be disappointed....

I have tried quite a few tyres and could never reduce the massive wheel spin i get on pull away.

Now, it feel like it has reduced wheel spin by 50%!

    very impressive.
