    Camshaft bolts

    auto data says that the camsaft sproket bolt should be done up to 50nm, but what should the 2 10mm bolts that hold the cam in place be done up to? cheers andy

    Std M6 torq - 10 nm . There is no load on them, its a retaining plate.. 10nm should be fine 12nm at a push...

    thankyou rob, torque wrench is in hand, 10nm is enough then as i have a habit of snapping bolts.

    absolute tosh, you want 11.5nm, no more, no less

    Do you back them off and re-torque after heat cycling the engine, or are you a bodger

    defo a bodger , But they are not new bolts so should be fine? ah this new world of engine rebuilding, cant tell if your joking

    - leave washers on the top of the pistons
    - leave masking tape in the sump

    don't worry, it'll be fine....

    as long as you don't:

    - leave washers on the top of the pistons
    - leave masking tape in the sump

    Just put on a new chain tensioner on and tried to tighten to 30nm. its was having none of it! just kept spinning then one bolt snapped. had another bolt around and put that on and tightened to about 22nm. Any reason why this would happen? and would 22nm be ok?

    Nobody had this problem Autodata says do up to 30nm. Whats everyone else tightened them up to?

    Just tight, with a 10mm spanner! that'll do
