Looking good Ol
Turbo water feeds are in
They have a banjo turbo end, steel braided line and a push fitting at the other
where do you connect them to?
One connects to the silicone hose off the heater matrix and the other to the silicone hose off the rear of the stat housing
aren't the leads too small for that?
i currently have my turbo not watercooled so i'm curouis how other setups are done
Nope as I currently have 2 silicone hoses joined together to connect to the turbo, I'll take some pics when I get home from work
thank you
I'd be interested in these pics too as I'm not happy with the plumbing in mine, although not sure how keen I would be for turbo temp water blowing into the matrix as am pretty sure that the direction of flow at that point in the system??
very nice
Here's the new rear housing next to a T25 .64 rear housing so you can see how much bigger it is
With my old turbo the bulk head and brake master cylinder were exposed to a lot of heat, with the new turbo I expect the problem would get 100 times worse so I've taken steps
Cardblard template
Transferred to aluminium
Completed heat shield
good progress, have you fitted the cams yet?
wish mine still looked shiny
OMG - so powerful it suck phones in
It that the picture you sent earlier?
I don't know why, but whenever anyone sends me a picture, I never get it on my phone but Get a message saying that I have recieved a picture and I can get it from www.blahblahblah.
When you sticking the fair ol beauty on?
once he gets his gearbox/ clutch fitted and the engine back in, next weekend
Come on HAnd y u can get the clutch and box out of yours Wednesday night
any pics of the turbo water circuit pipework and fitment yet fella?!
another quick one as well, whats the new rear housing for the turbo? I may possible need a new .64 t28 for my gt28rs is all and was wondering on costs etc?
Oli that .57 will be T3 sized frame, so a lot bigger than .57 in GT25/GT28 speak.
Ah ok, so it is going to flow better then
My long term plan was to use this housing short term to get the car on the road for national day, see how it flows and if need be I can go to .72 housing with an external gate take off on the top but still on a T25 flange, maybe go to a tubular manifold with a T3 flange so I can get a bigger housing if need be.
cheers boys, all food for thought
Chris, is the GT25 and GT28 sizing the same, so a .64 GT25 = .64 GT28? and also if I decide to pop for more power in the future you think the .64 will flow enough? i'm still pulling more power at the current red line at current boost, so the turbo doesn't seem to be restrictive as yet................
When I sold my old turbo I left the oil drain pipe on but forgot that when the new turbo arrives I'd need one, so I headed to a local scrappy this morning and got this off a W reg Saab 93
Gave it a clean up and opened out the mounting holes to suit the turbo, then gave it a lick of paint to stop it rusting up again
The new coolant banjo's turned up yesterday so got them fitted after putting the 9 back together
This is how the lines now are, from the rear of the stat housing to the turbo, from the turbo to the heater matrix
The new unions just turned up for my turbo oil feed, a 90degree bend to fit onto the restrictor feed, 2 straight unions and an inline filter to go in just before the turbo.

My plan for the turbo oil feed failed so I've had to order some more hose and a couple of unions, hopefully be here midweek.
Managed to damage the cv boot on the drivers side driveshaft so that's gotta be replaced, again.
The new turbo has given more clearance of the starter but will need a new oil return connection to the block.
As for the turbo itself I may have been abit ambitious I got the engine back in the bay but the turbo was press against the heat shield I made, so much infact that it was holding the engine off the rear mount so out came the cutters and the heat shield is gone, now the turbo fits with a small fingers width gap off the bulkhead so I'm looking at turbo blankets to keep the heat off of everything.
Got the car back together and running Thursday night but found an injector O ring was leaking, got a new 1 Friday, put it all back together again by 9pm Friday and then drove 123miles to donny at 5pm saturday, 40mile round trip to a local hospital Sunday morning, fcs the rest of the day, 50miles to my old mans place then another 120miles back home Sunday evening. Now that's a shake down run
Only 3 issues:
1: fuel pump relay started playing up, new 1 in the glove box, done.
2: gearbox drain plug leaked, picking up a new copper crush washer today.
3: coolant temp was hotter than before, sat on the third line all the time, I think the star might be playing up.
saw the car at the show fella, shame I didn't get chance for a chat, you may of been about but no idea what you look like!lol!
did i? jesus my memory is useless!lol! would perhaps of recognised you then this time around if i'd seen you!
yeah will be at the national day provided cars all hunky dory on the pikie build of win!
omg! you told me sunday you would stick with the diesel gearbox for a while
good luck with fixing it! i didn't have luck with my 9 today to, going to update within 5 minutes...
lol, i replaced mine 2 and it's still leaking, i just monitor the oil level now and get to it later. could well be the main bearing cap....
check the threads, ive seen oil leak through flywheel bolts before now. crazy stuff but its possible, locktite was the cure.
