    ????

After a run in my 5 pulled up at home then the car started to misfire badly and cut out.The vehicle would only restart while pumping the throttle.Fuel you think, well 4psi to carb 2 carb changes no better. Ignition tdc change ,aei change spark is present different cap rotor leads.Found air leak at inlet manifold stud, removed head to helicoil it refitted new h gasket kit and bolts. Compression tested b4 and after this all results good. There was no wash on the head or pistons present no visable damage anywhere?Checked dizzy was turning ok thats good too, different fuel pump relay checked fuses. The model is a 1.5 i beleive e reg,aei in scuttle cant see any overboost wires did this model or the phase one have them.Any help on diagnosing the fault would be great cheers.running out of patience jason.

new sparkplugs might resolve this , maybe 1 of the leads is causing the missfire

valve clearances done correct, dizzy turns as should. Managed to get it running ,but still have to pump the trottle/make the accelorator jet work to start. The car will not idle and you have to to hold the throttle open, car dosnt seem to want to rev too high though? Cap and rotor good.

leak sorted as per first post ,and this wouldnt make it that difficult to start. What would a blocked fuel return do on the 5?

    Re: ????

Blocked fuel return would probably make the fuel pressure really high.

The thin grey wire that goes from the gearbox is for the speedo, the other two relate to starter only. None of them will cause problems like yours.
