coppers have some nice technology these days

hi folks, i took my pulsar to have its mot last week which failed, anyway i just been to have its failed parts to be fitted and have a retest, when i got there i find out that the company had given me the wrong parts so i have had to rebook the test for tomorrow. anyway whilst on my way back i over took a police car on the a38 cause they were doing an estimate 50mph and i was doing dead on 70mph and before i knew it they picked up the speed behind me and flashed me to pull over

anyway whilst i was in the back of the police car i see they have a very good system now installed, basically any car that came past the computer picked it up its registration and it basicly tells them whats legally wrong with the car, in the end they asked a load of questions but i had all areas covered

basicly its been a wake up call for me, ive done a few illegal trips around the village in my cars in the past but from now on i think i will pass, and there was me thinking of taking the chance of not insuring the pulsar this morning lol!

make sure your insured and do everything by the book fellas and girls

Yeh most police cars have what they call ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) systems on board, it reads something like 1 number plate per second on car traveling at speeds upto 100mph.

Its a great system and is linked to the DVLA and most insurance company's so if you car has no MOT, Tax, Insurance they will find out...

If you pull over and say yeh i am insured with Tesco chances are the police man will ring the insurance company up on the spot.... even if you produce a Insurance Cert as a lot of crooks insure there car, get the insurance document then cancel the insurance.

Not that my opinion counts for much but getting caught by the police while driving without insurance or with out anything for that matter is the least of your worries. How could you live with yourself if you knocked down a kid? Only a f**ing moron would even consider such a stupid idiotic act.

You can get away with no tax or MOT as long as your on your way to a pre booked MOT, but you then cant drive it from the garage to the post office with out tax! Strange rooling, no tickets no road i think!

    Yep

I think it's always best to be fully covered when on the road Even the pre-booked MOT thing is at the coppers discretion I believe ??

    no licence = void insurence

no mot = fine , but dose not void insurence usless your insurence has stated.

no tax = wheel clamp and fine

Tax isn't an issue either, perfectly legal to drive to a pre-booked MOT without tax providing it is too and from the nearest test station.

Tax and insurance won't save a kid for being run down, and an mot's only got for the time its in the building.. making sure cars are safe is up to us as drivers, same goes for driving safe without those phones in our hands etc..

i for one am quite petty when it comes to my car being more than up to the job

No I agree it wont. However it will be avoidable as with out insurance you should not be on the road to hit someone should you? The question I asked is how could you live with yourself if you did knock down a child and not be fully legit? Sure a kid can run out and there is nothing you can do but if you are fully legit then you know its not your fault and there was nothing you could do and you was not speeding etc.

5alldaway I was not questioning that you was not legal to take your car to the MOT. I can see you was. Its the quote I used to drive around my village illegally from time to time but I wont now as I know I may get caught that caused concern. How far do you have to drive exactly to mow down a child in the street?? Your fault of not?? If you was uninsured then you should not have been on the road so its completely avoidable.
