    Disc/Pads & Calipers

    Hi,

Can someone suggest a good set up for a track only car. There are non standard calipers/brakes on the front but i am not confident with them at all. The discs need changing anyway so was wondering what was best. Does anyone use the Brembo set up from Megane?
I am current on 16" wheels so there is a bit of space.

    Many thanks

    Dan

Loads of options but most stick with standard calipers, decent discs such as brembos and ds2500 pads. Change the fluid for a good synthetic dot 5 and brake fade shouldn't be an issue.

Alternatively, standard calipers with extender brackets and 285mm discs from an r21 txi give the correct offset. Ds2500 pads again.

For me, I have hi spec 4 pots and ds2500 pads with 285mm lancia delta integral discs and larger master cylinder.

I think the advice for an old car like the GTT is to go with DOT4 fluid. Something about DOT4 being much more tolerant of odd bits and bobs in the brake system that shouldn't be there. I forget exactly.

I agree trev. I think if changing to dot 5 it would be best to replace all the braking system.

I'd be wary of putting the 285 discs on it there to heavy and will/do increase under steer . I took mine of because of this and swapped out for the slightly larger valves Clio gear using brembro discs and ferrodo pads .
