Wing preperation before applying lacquer?
Hey everyone just a quick one for any bodywork/painting gurus, I have painted a wing using halfrauds aerosol (after priming and flatting) I was just wondering is it necessary to wet flat the wing again before applying the lacquer or just spray it as is?

i think you need to wet sand to take the shine off. then apply laquer. 800 or 1200 grit. but double check first.

minimum of 2000grit + soapy water before clear else you might see the marks through the clear. go easy, 2000 and water will get through paint quicker than you'd imagine!

I have some 2000 although don't think it is wet n dry, I definately have 1500 wet n dry which is the finest halfrauds do.
Would the finish be so bad with 1500? i'm not after anything spectacular chances are the wing will end up a better finish than the entire car that some old boy painted on the cheap.

it'll be right enough if you go easy, when I didn't have any 2000 I would rub some sheets of 1500 together to take the edge off them. you normally wouldn't flat at all after the base, I'm assuming its a bit rough out of a rattle can ?

Yeah it is a little rough but like I said overall finish doesnt have to be perfect so ill give what you suggested a try with the 1500.
thanks for the tip
