    The K20 (civic type R) R5

I will start from the beginning.. I got my 5 back in 2011 and had it on the road for just under a year its then sat in my garage until june 2014 when i started work on it. My plan was to clean it up and get it back on the road, i new it needed some welding and other small bits but until you remove the body work you don't know whats waiting for you...... I will uploads pics of all the work so far shortly!
Rolled out for the first time in 2years

    Now for uncovering that rot!!!!!!

    Making a flintstones car!!

So i found most the rust just need to take it a mates for us to start the welding..

    Let the cutting start..

    Some nice repairs there.

Always jealous of people who can weld

May I ask what the 'K20' refers to in your thread title?

Welding isnt that hard to be honest. I taught myself MIG by doing exactly the same repairs to my 5. Mine had gone in all the same places and pretty much looked the same as the OP`s car in the pictures. That and watching a couple of youtube videos soon got me up to speed. Hardest bit I found was getting the wire speed and power right for what I was welding. Even then, the manual told me what settings I needed for the thickness of metal I was welding, so it was more down to adjusting them to my welding speed etc.

When it came to ARC welding, I again just taught myself by welding up some massive security gates for my old house. I was using quite thick angle iron for the frame of the gates, so I found ARC welding was easier to get better penetration of the steel.

Good on you mate for tackling all those common, yet awkward placed bits of rust, I certain recognise some of those areas on my 5 back along!

I need somewhere I can take my 5 to get cracking again, single garages with no electric, away from home, really do SUCK

I know the feeling.. I have a rubbish little garage with now power
Im very lucky that i have a mate who builds drag/custom cars so i spend most my weekends at his working on the 5, its a big help when you have all the tools and a ramp!
