    Hi spec, wilwoods- big brakes?

    Hi,

Im really after a bigger front brake setup e.g. a 4 pot setup.

Does anyone run one on standard 5 hubs?
it would be the 285/283mm disc setup on a 4 pot caliper.

If so, which one? e.g. hi spec or wilwood....
any recommendations on where to buy?

Ive seen a few places at around 500/600 pending spec.

Unless someone has some second hand

or someone is interested in a group buy?

I gave up on hi spec. Out of 8 pistons only 2 moved as they should might have been OK on a track where thing get good and hot but dangerous on the road. You need a bigger diameter master cylinder to move enough fluid. Go AP or similar established firms in my view.

I've got will woods on mine done know the disk size but there mahoosive and vented ones, they are great and really stop the car so fast. Although I've never had the standard five gt turbo brakes on my car but when working properly they are supposed to be good enough for the job.

I run hi specs and get on really well with them. I had to change the master cylinder as the original one in place made the pedal almost hit the floor before it pulled the car up. Got a bigger master cylinder and it solved the issue. I've got 325mm and they stop really well

Matt I will find out for you as I still have the box at work and will get you the part number. I think it's out of a vw golf g60. It has the same pcds as the standard one and fits perfectly with no modifications and even has the same 4 port setup as the original one.

Re: Hi spec, wilwoods- big brakes?

I was very lucky as I got mine second hand from someone who fitted them and took them off never used them and must have taken a massive knock on the price. I paid about £350 all in including some decent pads. I think hi spec list the kit I got now at over £1200

I will post the part number up on here tomorrow for you both. Bigfoot might also be able to find out what other cars use that part and you could find it more easily too.
